The Arab American Action Network (AAAN) is sad to announce the passing of Mustafa Othman Hasan, a member of the Arab Community Center (ACC), precursor organization to the AAAN, and uncle of AAAN board member Nesreen Hasan.

Mustafa was the son of Othman Hasan (Abu Mohammad) and Um Mohammad, among the original founders of the ACC.

We offer our most sincere condolences to the entire Hasan family.

On Sunday, October 25 at 3:00 p.m., Silk Road Cultural Center will present a screening of The Horse of Jenin at Ganz Hall at Roosevelt University in Chicago!

“The horse in Arabic is a symbol of freedom. But to us, this horse is much more. This horse is us!”

About the Film: Built from the debris of a major invasion, the Horse of Jenin sculpture became a constant presence in actor and comedian Alaa Shehada’s life growing up in Occupied Palestine. It stood proudly in the center of the city for twenty years, symbolizing hope and resistance. Then, on October 29, 2023, an Israeli bulldozer entered the city, ripping the sculpture from its place and its people. Alaa is left wondering… What happened to the horse?

The Horse of Jenin stands as an ode to the power of imagination and the resilience it brings! Join us as we watch the film together, followed by a panel discussion and reception. See you there!

Our Deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Mansour Hasan Mansour, who passed away this morning at the age of 93 in Chicago. He was an accomplished scholar, and lover of his homeland of Palestine. We ask our community to join us in offering our prayers and condolences to his family. Please find funeral arrangements attached below

Condolences on the passing of Mansour Hasan Mansour, husband of the late Ablah Mansour, beloved father of Miriam, Haytham, Faris and Rana, grandfather to 11, who passed away this morning at the age of 93.

Wake tonight Tuesday September 22 from 6-9 pm at Hann Funeral Home and Wednesday September 23 from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm followed by salat al-janazah after thuhr salat at the Mosque Foundation followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery.

Azza Wednesday September 23 from 6-8 pm at the Universal School next to the Mosque Foundation

NOTICE - at the cemetery, all persons must remain 20 feet away from the grave while the cemetery employee performs his work. Please park your cars all in one direction and NOT on the grass. This guidance will be strictly enforced!

‼️Update post-court: Read our statement following the preliminary hearing of the three community members who were unjustly arrested by the racist Oak Lawn Police Department.

Following the August 5th public meeting held by the Fire & Police Commission where Oak Lawn police brutally assaulted a 14 year old child, Oak Lawn decided to escalate and arrest three of our community members in a desperate attempt to silence us.
