Thornbury Historical Society, founded in 1976 during the nation's bicentennial, has acted as a focal point for community activities and projects.

Thank you to The Clock Tower Schools for hosting THS and Dr Samuel Lemon at The Chapel at Glen Mills School for an important discussion about social justice in our township. There was great turnout as we learned from Dr Lemon about a complex chapter in local history: the 1930 death of Vida Robare, the subsequent ex*****on and later exoneration of Alexander McClay Williams. We want to thank Dr Lemon for guiding this insightful exploration of justice, truth , and the importance of historical record in the community. We were honored to have many members of the Williams family join us for this important discussion.

Join us for our Fall program at the Glen Mills Boys School chapel at 2 0'clock on October 24th. Dr Sam Lemon will present:

In 1930, a matron at Glen Mills School was brutally murdered. For decades, the truth remained buried—until 2022, when the boy wrongly executed for the crime was finally exonerated.

Thank you to The Mill and Carriage House for hosting THS for our Spring Program: “Down by the Old Mill Stream.” We all enjoyed learning from Dr Gimber and thank him for an educational afternoon. What a beautiful location (a true local gem!), no place better to learn about the early mills in Pennsylvania!
