KidSPOT Children's Creativity Center KidSPOT, at Chestertown RiverArts, offers free Saturday AM drop-in creative discovery 9:00-noon. KidSPOT is one such program.

An Adventure in Creativity

Chestertown RiverArts, a community arts center, offers a dynamic program of exhibitions, classes and special events. A highly valued part of the RiverArts’ vision is to foster the creativity of children. It offers adventures in creativity to children aged 2-12, through a variety of hands-on experiences with artistic materials. We propose to develop this program into

a dedicated children’s creativity center that will be open weekends for children of all ages to play, create and explore with painting, photography, music, crafts, writing, building and other forms of creative exploration. The creative stations will vary in medium and complexity so that children of all ages can participate. Guest presenters would be featured to offer special opportunities throughout the year. For a modest fee, with family weekend passes available, local residents and visitors can enjoy an exciting adventure in the arts.

We had a record-breaking 122 visitors to KidSPOT yesterday morning! We attribute this to the glorious weather on a holiday weekend. It’s thrilling to see the enthusiasm for our community but we also understand that this can be a bit much for those who prefer a quieter creative experience. We thought this might be a good time to remind families that the 9:00-10:00 hour is much less busy if that meets your needs better. Thank you for helping us to fulfill our mission of providing a joyful place for families to play, create, and explore together! ❤️

Today was magical in so many ways: 111 smiling and engaging visitors (a record number for us), gorgeous weather with kids of all ages stopping by to play outside, families finding joy in creating together side-by-side, and a few KidSpotters, a few doors down, hosting a lemonade stand to raise money for KidSPOT. Start your Saturday off with a burst of creativity tomorrow morning; we’ve prepared the playful experiences and all we need are your good vibes. We will be exploring the mosaics of Alma Thomas and the mobiles of Alexander Calder. Also, ice play outside will be back by popular demand! Drop in between 9:00-Noon for a free morning of exploration.
