Character Counts Kent County’s mission is to strengthen our community by promoting kindness and strong ethical values through the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. Operating through Chesapeake Charities, we are a

community-based character education program supported by dedicated working professionals, retired executives, and valued community volunteers. Our program brings real-world experience into local classrooms, helping students understand the importance of character, leadership, and responsible decision-making beyond the walls of their schools. Congratulations to Kent County's own, Michael Nickerson, for his selection to the All-Sportsmanship Team as the representative for Washington College Men's Lacrosse! 🥍 Each member institution in the Centennial Conference nominates one student-athlete who exemplifies stellar sportsmanship, and Michael has truly set a high standard.

At Character Counts Kent County, we believe that sportsmanship is a vital part of character development. We are incredibly proud to see such exemplary character displayed both on and off the field.

More than 600 essays were submitted in the contest that is open to all students in Kent County, in public and private schools.
