📍 Norristown, PA

Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education

Many, many thanks to the professionals (heroes) at these facilities who give so much of themselves to helping the helpless ♥️

If you do handle baby critters, please always make sure you are wearing gloves and have the proper protection! But really, that baby bird home alone for the first time on your back porch is probably fine 😊

Anyone interested in monitoring chickadees?

Are you interested in volunteering with French & Pickering and supporting chickadee research?

For 20 years, Villanova University monitored over 100 chickadee nest tubes at our Templin Woods Preserve for their study on Carolina Chickadee and Black-capped Chickadee hybridization. Now that the study has concluded, French & Pickering manages the program by monitoring the tubes and sharing data with other chickadee researchers.

We're currently seeking a few volunteers to join our chickadee nest monitoring team! Volunteers will assist in locating existing nest tubes and preparing them for the upcoming breeding season. After this initial work, volunteers will monitor the tubes for nesting activity and collect and record data. All monitors must be available on a weekly basis April through July.

Interested in becoming a nest monitor? Please email [email protected] by this Friday, April 3.
