Meet Pookie

Pookie is a 6 1/2-month-old mixed breed puppy with a heart full of joy and a personality that shines. This happy, social girl came to us from ACCT Philly after a scary start to life - she and her sibling were found on the streets, nearly being hit by a car. Knowing they needed safety and care, we welcomed them into our rescue so they could have a fresh start.

Despite her rough beginning, Pookie is everything a puppy should be - playful, affectionate, and full of life. She loves people, thrives on attention, and is always ready to make new friends. Pookie does great in playgroups and truly enjoys the company of other dogs, making her a wonderful candidate for a home with a playful canine companion (with proper introductions, of course!).

Pookie is looking for a family ready to embrace all the fun (and learning!) that comes with puppyhood. She can't wait to find her forever home where she can continue to grow, play, and, most importantly, be loved.

Meet Pluto

This little potato is a 34-pound, 4-year-old Pug/Jack Russell Terrier mix (aka a “Jug”) with a heart of gold and a personality that makes you wonder how he was ever surrendered.

Pluto joined us in an unexpected way, while our team was in Lancaster setting up pickups for other dogs, a neighbor asked if we could take him too, as he was no longer wanted. Honestly, we can’t understand why, because Pluto has proven himself to be nothing short of wonderful.

From the moment he arrived, Pluto has been a total sweetheart. He’s been social and friendly with our volunteers, greeting people with an easygoing, happy demeanor and quickly winning everyone over. He’s also very easy to handle, making him a great match for a variety of homes.

Now, Pluto is ready for his fresh start with a family who will never question his worth. He’s the kind of dog who will fit right into a loving home and remind you every day what a special companion he is.

Meet Lilac

Lilac is a stunning 3½-year-old standard poodle with a soft white coat beautifully spotted with gray, truly a showstopper in both looks and personality. She came to us after being surrendered from an Amish property alongside her mate and their three puppies when they were no longer wanted. While her past may not have offered her the love she deserved, Lilac hasn’t let it dull her spirit.

This sweet girl is an absolute treasure. Lilac has a gentle, soulful nature and approaches the world with quiet kindness. She deeply appreciates every soft word, every gentle touch, and every moment of affection she’s given. Watching her blossom as she learns what it means to be cared for has been incredibly special for everyone here.

Meet Cooper

This smiling guy is a 3 1/2-year-old, 88-pound black Labrador with a whole lot of love, goofiness, and second chances packed into one big, happy boy.

Cooper’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. Originally bred in an Amish setting, he was passed from place to place - sold, resold, and shuffled between dealers and breeders, before eventually ending up right back where he started after refusing to be used for breeding. Thankfully, that chapter is behind him, and Cooper is now safe and finally getting the chance to just be a dog.

And what a dog he is.
Cooper is everything you’d expect from a Lab - big, goofy, and full of joy. He has that classic happy-go-lucky personality that makes the breed so beloved. He’s social, sweet, and eager to make friends, soaking up attention and giving it right back tenfold. Whether he’s trotting around with a wagging tail or leaning in for affection, Cooper’s good nature shines through.

Meet Judy

She is 3 1/2-year-old, 26-pound French Bulldog with a gentle heart who’s just beginning to learn what it means to be safe and loved.

Judy came to us after being surrendered by an Amish breeder when she experienced severe complications during pregnancy and could no longer be used for breeding. Since entering rescue, she’s been quietly decompressing and starting to show her true, tender personality.

In our care, Judy has been a calm, sweet girl who forms gentle connections with the people around her. She can be hesitant in new situations and with new people, which is completely understandable given her past. But with a little time, patience, and reassurance, she begins to relax and let her soft, loving nature shine through.

Judy is looking for a home that will give her the time and space she needs to continue adjusting to life outside of a breeding environment. A patient, understanding family will help her build confidence at her own pace and show her all the good things life has to offer.

We welcomed 8 tiny little souls today.

We would love to formally introduce you to mama Coriander aka Cori and her gorgeous puppies (2 girls and 6 boys).

Welcome: Peppercorn💙, Cayenne💙, Saffron🩷, Clove💙, Sage🩷, Fennel💙, Paprika💙 and Maldon💙

Peppercorn had a difficult last couple hours and was already seen by the vet - while his prognosis is guarded, all others are doing well and mom is taking good care of them all.

Meet Oscar

Oscar is a 5-year-old, 60-pound standard poodle who is as smart as he is sweet, and ready to start his next chapter with a family who will truly cherish him.
Oscar came to us after being surrendered alongside his mate and their puppies from an Amish breeder.

While his past revolved around producing litters, Oscar is now getting the chance to simply be a dog and he’s settling into that role beautifully.
He’s a thoughtful, curious boy who enjoys taking in the world around him. Whether he’s out on a walk or just observing his surroundings, Oscar shows a gentle confidence and an inquisitive nature. He walks well on leash, making him a wonderful companion for daily strolls and adventures.

Oscar has been a good, cooperative boy with our volunteers, he allows handling with ease and has a calm, easygoing demeanor. Beneath his composed nature is a truly affectionate dog who enjoys connection and quiet attention from his people.

He has lived with kids of all ages and done well, showing patience and a gentle presence that makes him a great potential family dog.

She’s been friendly and affectionate with volunteers, happily engaging with people and showing off the loving, gentle personality that makes poodles such special companions. Phyllis is the kind of puppy who will thrive in a home that appreciates both her intelligence and her sensitive nature. As a standard poodle, she’ll benefit from continued training, mental stimulation, and a family who understands the commitment of maintaining her coat with regular grooming.

With her sweet temperament, smarts, and soft, affectionate nature, Phyllis is ready to blossom into an incredible companion. She’s just looking for a loving home that will help her grow into everything she’s meant to be.

Meet Jasper Bear

This good bot is a 92-pound, 2-year-old shepherd with a big heart and an even bigger love for life.
Jasper’s story started on the streets of Philadelphia, where he was found as a stray and given a lift to ACCT Philly by a kind local police officer. From the moment he arrived, Jasper showed everyone exactly who he is: an easygoing, gentle soul who’s ready to soak up love.

He’s a breeze to leash up and happily came right out to explore. On walks, Jasper is curious about the world around him, he may pull a bit as he takes in all the sights and smells, but it’s all part of his adventurous spirit. Along the way, you’ll notice his loose, low tail wags and relaxed ears, signs of a dog who’s taking it all in stride.

Jasper Bear is a sweet and sensitive boy when it comes to people. He may not come running right away when called but offer him a treat and he’s ready to be your best friend. He’s incredibly gentle when taking snacks and clearly food-motivated, which will make continued training a great bonding experience. He allows all handling with ease, often staying close by your side before wandering off to check out his surroundings.

When it comes to other dogs, Jasper shines. He greets politely with a loose, happy body and enjoys their company. And if there’s water involved? Even better. Jasper absolutely lights up at the splash pad and has a blast playing with the water hose he’s equal parts playful and joyful.
