Today, the NCNW Tidewater Section proudly joins communities across the nation in commemorating Juneteenth—a day that symbolizes freedom, resilience, hope, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free. Juneteenth reminds us that freedom delayed is still freedom worth celebrating, protecting, and advancing.

As we honor the sacrifices, perseverance, and achievements of those who came before us, we also recognize our responsibility to continue the work of uplifting our communities, educating future generations, and advocating for justice and opportunity for all.

Today, let us celebrate our rich culture, reflect on our shared history, and recommit ourselves to building a brighter future.

On Friday March 27,2026 members of NCNW Tidewater attended the Chartering/Induction ceremony of over 120 women across multi generational families into the NCNW Suffolk Section in Suffolk, VA. The official charter presentation and installation done by none other than Dr A. Lois Keith - NCNW National Chair.

This was an absolutely beautiful event and all sections from the Great State of Virginia were represented along with members of NCNW affiliate organizations.

NCNW Suffolk has already made its mark in Suffolk and we cannot wait to support them in all that they do to make Suffolk even greater.
