🐾🇺🇸 MEET OUR TWO K9 HEROES! 🐾🐕

They served our communities. Now it’s our turn to serve them! ❤️💙

The Rotary Club of Churchland, in partnership with Chick-fil-A Portsmouth Blvd., is proud to introduce K9 Baco and K9 Niko, our two selected retired police K9 heroes through Paws of Honor!

🐾 Meet K9 Baco!
Baco proudly served the Norfolk Police Department for five years as a patrol K9. He retired in 2020 due to medical issues and received two awards for his outstanding service. Our goal is to provide one year of support for Baco.

🐾 Meet K9 Niko!
Niko served with the Hampton Police Department. After retiring, he waited for the support he deserved. Our goal is to provide lifetime support for Niko.

Small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference!

The Rotary Club of Churchland was honored to support ChainBreakers, Inc. and its A Legacy of Hope: Breast Health Awareness & Survivor Celebration, held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Through our club’s contribution, we helped provide special gift bags for this meaningful celebration, which brought together survivors, families, and community supporters for a day of hope, encouragement, and remembrance. 🎀

As our Club President, Charles L. Owens, so beautifully expressed:

“Every effort to comfort, encourage, or even just acknowledge someone makes a difference.”

Cancer has touched so many of our lives. Some are survivors, some are still fighting, and others live on in our hearts. Events like this remind us of the importance of standing together and showing compassion.

We were grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a worthy cause.
A heartfelt thank you to Pastor Frances Knight Thompson, Dr. Rhonda Alexander, and the entire ChainBreakers, Inc. team for their dedication to the health and well-being of our Portsmouth community. We also appreciate the beautiful recognition and photographs shared with our club.

Every day, you answer the call, often putting your own safety at risk to protect the lives of others. Your courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to service do not go unnoticed.

Today, the Rotary Club of Churchland proudly stands with Rotary International and End Polio Now in the global fight to end this preventable disease.

We have come so far. But our work is not finished.

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy, without the fear of polio. Every family deserves that peace of mind. And every effort brings us closer to a world where polio is only a part of history.

💛 Service Above Self is more than our motto. It is a promise to serve others, even those we may never meet.
