Have you ever felt that with just a little more access to funds you would be able to get a fresh start in some part of your life?

We’ve talked a lot this month about how our Shalom Bayit program helps people leaving abusive situations access funds to support their transition, but this is just one way in which we help people get a fresh start.

Some borrowers are seeking financial support for education. Some for improving their business. Others for household or car repairs.

The needs are varied, but one thing stays the same: no one wants to pay interest on top of a loan if they don’t have to.

By offering interest-free and fee-free loans, we are able to support people in getting the help they need to better their financial situation without the burden of paying back additional funds.

Our Shalom Bayit loan fund was created to provide essential support to people leaving abusive situations.

This fund operates in partnership with Dinah, a legal services center that provides low-cost and pro bono legal representation to survivors of domestic abuse in the Jewish Community of Greater Philadelphia, and is funded by a grant from Women of Vision at Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.

No one should feel trapped in a situation that is harming them for lack of funds. Through these partnerships we are able to offer real assistance with expenses such as: legal costs, housing and moving expenses, debt consolidation, child care, among others.

Help us build a community where survivors of domestic abuse are met with understanding and support. HFL Philly is proud to partner with Dinah, Jewish Family and Children’s Services, Jewish Women International, and Jewish Federation to present the Here for You training program.

Here for You is a new training program, funded by Women of Vision, that equips leaders of local organizations to support survivors of domestic abuse. This program is open to professional organizations and is just $36 flat fee per organization for each session.

Any organization that sends representatives to at least two training sessions will receive a "Domestic Abuse Informed" sticker to display proudly. It's a visible signal to your community that survivors will find a safe, informed place to turn.
