Our Hearts Are Full! 💕

Last Saturday, our community came together for the 3rd Annual Community Baby Shower, and it was a beautiful reminder of what happens when organizations, partners, and neighbors unite to support families.

Through a collaborative partnership between Faith In God Family Restoration Corporation (FIG), Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, and Building Bridges in Greater Olney (BBGO), we had the honor of serving approximately 90 mothers — many expecting, and others who brought their babies and toddlers to celebrate the day with us.

Mothers were able to receive baby clothes, diapers, and essential baby items, along with valuable information about financial planning, healthcare services, and birthing support. Our vendor partners helped make this possible, including:

✨ Aspira

✨ Health Partners

Families also enjoyed face painting for the children, a beautiful photo station where mothers could feel celebrated, and children’s books to encourage early learning and family bonding.

The smiles, gratitude, and joy in the room reminded us why this work matters. Many mothers shared how thankful they were for the abundance of resources, essentials, and encouragement they received.

At FIG, our mission is to restore communities one family at a time, and moments like this show the power of compassion, partnership, and community support.

To every volunteer, partner, donor, and organization who helped make this day possible — thank you for pouring hope into our families.

😌I am so grateful that I had the honor to witness God’s handiwork through Faith In God (FIG) Family Restoration Corporation’s 13th annual Giving Hope to Families Holiday event. There is a lesson within every event. The lesson for this year was to Trust God.

🎁Every year we have been able to bless hundreds of children with experiencing the joy of receiving gifts that inspire hope.
But this year was different because we were denied for donations that we consistently received in past years.

It was bizarre because I did everything correct and all of the paperwork and proof of integrity was in order.

😞Seeing the denial made my heart sink.
Seeing the denial sparked a bit of panic.
Seeing the denial almost caused me to cancel the event.

BUT

I heard the still small voice of God tell me to “worship instead of worrying”. I trusted God with the problem and He solved it. 🙏🏾

After a month went by, the denial changed into approval!! 🙌🏾

I don’t know how, but God put our nonprofit, FIG, on the mind of the decision-makers to double check what the system denied.

AND
We had so much that we needed a rental truck. This was another unexpected blessing because EZ Storage allowed us to use it for FREE!! THANK YOU! 🙏🏾

🤲🏽God showed up and over 600 people making up 130 families had the opportunity to be blessed during this giving season. Our giving events not only provide basic needs in times of scarcity but they also help people to see that they are not alone and support is available to alleviate the burden.

Many people expressed the fact that receiving donations gave them hope for the hardships they were experiencing— death, cancer, joblessness, and reduced finances among many other reasons.

This is the reason why FIG is the hope that helps our community and why this great work must continue.

✨ One of the greatest and most humbling moments in leadership is being recognized for work you do simply because your heart won’t let you do anything else.

All year long, my team and I show up for families through Faith In God Family Restoration Corporation (FIG). Together, we support nearly 1,000 families experiencing real hardship, just as many of us once did. We give because we remember what it felt like to need a hand, a resource, or simply a reminder that someone cares.

This week, I was honored by Joanne Esquillion and the PTO at ASPIRA School for helping families in their school community connect to the resources they desperately need. Their recognition touched me deeply.

The truth is, improving someone’s life through quiet acts of kindness has always been more than enough for me.
But I’m sharing this moment for one reason, to encourage you.

If you are out there doing good work, showing up consistently, giving what you have, pouring into people, and planting seeds where they’re needed… please hear me:

Someone sees you.
Your impact is real.
And you will be recognized, oftentimes when you least expect it.

I accepted this award not only for myself but for the incredible FIG team that works with such diligence and compassion to fulfill our mission: restoring communities one family at a time through giving.

FIG is the hope that helps. 💛

Our community reminded us what love in action truly looks like. FIG’s Giving Hope to Families Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway at the Sturgis Community Center was an incredible expression of unity, compassion, and service.

In partnership with the Sturgis Advisory Council, Knowledge Is Learned, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, and UNC3, we were able to place over 250 turkeys into the hands of families along with bread, canned goods, boxed foods, and essential non-perishables to support a hearty Thanksgiving meal.

But what filled us most wasn’t just the food. It was the people.

To our faithful volunteers who show up every single year, THANK YOU! Your consistency is the backbone of this work.

THANK YOU to our generous donors! This event and provisions to families would not be possible without you.

A special thank you to the young gentlemen of Smooth Temple from Temple University. Their professionalism, excellence, and heart for service were a shining example of what leadership looks like. Watching young adults serve with purpose and enthusiasm gives us so much hope for the future.

We know this season is joyful for many and heavy for others. Whether because of financial strain or the absence of loved ones, holidays can bring mixed emotions. That is why FIG exists.

FIG is “The Hope That Helps.”
Our mission is not only to meet basic needs but to lift spirits, stand in the gap, and remind families that they are not alone. Through this event and throughout the year, we continue to restore communities one family at a time through giving, compassion, and connection.

During the event, our community felt loved, supported, and seen. And we felt the same in return.

🎒📚 HAPPY Back to School with Love and Purpose! 📚🎒

This August, Faith In God Family Restoration Corporation (FIG) proudly partnered with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Knowledge is Learned, and the Sturgis Advisory Council to host not one, but TWO incredible back-to-school events — one at Sturgis Community Center and another at Happy Hollow Community Center.

Thanks to the support of our generous donors — especially Cradles to Crayons — and the unwavering dedication of our phenomenal volunteers, 500 children walked away with backpacks filled with essential school supplies and hearts full of hope. 💜

Parents shared how much this meant — many expressed how these donations helped lift a huge financial burden, allowing them to focus on preparing their children for academic success without the stress of choosing between necessities.

These events are a true reflection of our mission: Restoring communities one family at a time through giving. At FIG, we believe that meeting basic needs is the first step toward empowerment and lasting change. Thank you for helping us plant the seeds of restoration. 🌱
