Q- How can I find the Baileys trails on different apps?

A- Trailforks is the app/website we keep updated with new trails, view our trails here: https://baileystrailsystem.org/our-trails/ Currently, the Baileys loops listed on AllTrails are user-generated andinclude multiple trails as people ride, record, and share them on the app. In the future, we plan to apply to be a partner with AllTrails in order to have more oversight of the trails shared on the app. Other mapping platforms such as Google Maps collect and verify their own data, so we are unable to update this.

Please join us in celebrating our August Member of the Month, Kelly Shaw!

Kelly is not only a highly engaged member of the Baileys Trail System community, but she is also part of AWOADC, ORCA’s nonprofit partner. AWOADC supports ORCA’s mission and helps sustain the Baileys Trail System through revenue-generating initiatives like bike rentals, locally made merchandise, and the annual Baileys Dirt Fondo.

Thank you, Kelly, for being such an engaged member and for all you do to support outdoor recreation in Appalachian Ohio! Read more about her below!

Q- What's your favorite thing about the Baileys Trail System?
A- I love the accessibility of a purpose-built, stacked loop trail system. Having been a mountain biker in Southeast Ohio for many years, I find it exciting to see new community members coming to the sport, especially across all ages. Baileys Trail System, along with our public lands trails at Strouds Run, Sells Park, and Lake Hope, create a recreation environment that keeps options fresh for locals riding/running/hiking every week and destination-worthy for those farther afield.

Q- Besides being a member, are there other ways you are or have been involved with the trail system?
A- I am a volunteer board member with the Athens Wayne Outdoor Asset Development Corporation. This nonprofit partner of ORCA focuses on the long-term economic development opportunities connected to outdoor recreation and tourism. When folks come to ride, run, or race on our trails, I want to be sure they see and experience the entrepreneurs, artists, innovators, storytellers, and culture that make our community vibrant and memorable.

Q-Why did you decide to become a Baileys Trail System member?
A- I want to recognize and support the significant efforts of local volunteers, the Athens Bicycle Club, and ORCA (Outdoor Recreation Council of Appalachia) staff to maintain the Baileys trails and infrastructure. Bonus, I love a good, durable sticker!

Q- Anything else you would like to share?
A- Don’t miss out on the Baileys Dirt Fondo in October. It’s a hoot-and-a-half 🦉
