🌱 Big news for Appalachian Ohio!

We're proud to announce that OUCU Financial has committed $50,000 to Rural Action's Sustainability & Growth Campaign! $10,000 per year over five years.

This investment will help us expand youth programming, grow local food access, restore watersheds, and build the long-term infrastructure our region deserves.

As Co-CEO Bryn Sowash put it: "When a local institution steps up like this, it sends a message to the whole region that this work is worth investing in."

Fresh food. Local impact. Double the difference.

Rural Action and Community Food Initiatives are working together through Local Food for All to provide weekly shares of Ohio-grown produce and fresh bread in the communities of Glouster and Coolville this growing season.

This week, every dollar donated will be matched up to $1,000 thanks to the Modern Woodmen of America.

Hidden Creatures in Wild Waters was so much fun!

Families explored the Kokosing River, watched Hellbender films, and learned what lives beneath the surface. The highlight? Mayor Matthew Starr proclaimed June 13th Hellbender Day in Mount Vernon. 🎉

Each year, AmeriCorps members serve alongside communities across Appalachian Ohio, supporting environmental stewardship, education, food systems, watershed restoration, and community development projects that make a lasting impact.

As a member, you'll gain valuable professional experience, develop leadership skills, build connections, and help strengthen communities throughout the region.
