Leadership In Training: Shark Tank Edition 🦈

Yesterday our teens spent a day learning about career skills, practicing networking, and pitching their presentations to our “sharks” (aka local business professionals). We’re so proud of how they’re taking steps towards career-readiness. 💼

A huge thank you to these community leaders who spent the afternoon using their experience and expertise to invest in AHF students!

“Everything I do to help raise money or to volunteer my time is for them.”

Our longtime friend Carol Yim was nominated for United Way of Greater Chattanooga's Celebrate Awards in the “Volunteer of the Year” category, and we couldn’t be more excited!

From volunteering at summer camps to organizing community fundraisers like “Mahj for Hatch,” Carol embodies the heartbeat of our mission — putting families first. She understands the impact of a diagnosis, and she’s committed to inspiring hope. We are so grateful for volunteers like Carol!

“It’s the least I could do to help families facing pediatric cancer.” 💚

What does it mean to restore a child’s “body safety?”

While the end of treatment is a milestone worth celebrating, many families discover that the impact of treatment continues long after hospital visits are over. Helping a child feel “safe” in their body again is an important aspect of healing.

If this sounds familiar, we’re here to walk the road to recovery with you.

Little hearts that make a big impact 💚

For Mental Health Awareness Month, our community volunteers gathered to make clay hearts for families navigating the loss of a child. They might seem small, but these hearts remind moms, dads, and siblings that they’re not alone in the cancer journey.

We’re so grateful for our amazing volunteers!

We get it: sometimes the “night before an appointment” anxiety can feel overwhelming.

Here are 3 simple tips to help prepare your child for an upcoming doctor’s visit:

👂 Describe what they will hear, see, and feel during the appointment.
🧃 Let them help pack a snack or toy bag!
🎨 Plan an active distraction that can help the day feel “lighter.”

Mental health can play a major role in the healing process. To learn more about decreasing appointment anxiety, check out our latest blog below 🤍
