Here is this week's Mystery! Maybe something to ponder over the weekend.

These tracks were found on the edge of a reservoir shore. These were the only tracks we observed (this was the entire trail). Who do you think left these tracks and why?

We promoted a "Caption This" contest though our newsletter and fear many didn't know it was taking place because it was only posted though our community group page. Next time we run an event like this, we'll post it across our main Facebook & Instagram pages!

That said, we turned the 3 submissions we did get into a cool visual. Here they are!

As the snow melts and the trees begin to bud, a magical migration begins. Salamanders and amphibians emerge from every nook and cranny of the forest, heading off to find a vernal pool to breed in. While the conditions for their migration can be quite specific, their tracks can be found all over! Keep an eye out in muddy puddles and pond edges for delicate trails going to and from the water. Use this quick guide to get a little more information, and enjoy the photos of some trails! Have you found a salamander trail yet this year? Leave a photo in the comments!

This week’s mystery is some sign we found earlier this month. Though we certainly would like to know who, we’re particularly interested in hearing what you think occurred here (include details!). This was found in an open area next to a stump with no overhanging branches.
