On this , WFCM is excited to announce the new Key Business Sponsor of our Chantilly Free Food Market: Starwood Capital Group.

Starwood Capital Group has committed $100,000 to support the operations of the WFCM Chantilly Free Food Market to ensure thousands of community members in western Fairfax have the opportunity to select the groceries they need to reduce food insecurity and prevent hunger.

Starwood Capital Group is a private real estate investment firm that prioritizes being a responsible partner and active contributor to the communities where it operates.

During the event to announce this new partnership Starwood Capital Group and several partners including DPR Construction, Commonwealth Consultants, E.E. Reed Construction East Coast, Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley & Walsh, P.C., Worldwide Mission Critical, and Whiting-Turner surprised WFCM by donating more than 6,000 canned goods to stock our shelves!

Earlier this month, local Girl Scouts organized a food drive to restock the shelves at WFCM’s Free Food Markets. With generous support from the community, the Scouts collected and delivered nearly 3,500 pounds of food! These donations are much appreciated as we enter the summer months when food insecurity increases for many families with school-aged children who may not be receiving school-based meals. Thank you!

Today we wished Seasonal Warehouse Assistant, Scott, well as he completed his season serving at WFCM. Scott shared that he really enjoyed delivering the food for weekend meals to Fairfax County Public Schools and that while delivering to each school he would silently pray for the teachers, students, and administrators.

On this we thank Scott for his heart for the community and for serving at WFCM for the season!

Thank you to our friends at 11 local congregations for committing to provide the 1,205 backpacks requested for school year 2026-2027 by the 26 Fairfax County Public Schools WFCM partners with in Centreville, Chantilly, Fairfax, and Herndon!

The school counselors, parent liaisons, and other school contacts have expressed their gratitude to once again start their summer knowing that the backpacks (and supplies requested) will be delivered in August before the students return for classes.

On this , we share our appreciation for our friends at Lord of Life Lutheran Church for their support of our Free Food Fridge (FFF) program providing weekend meals for 12 Fairfax County Public Schools including Liberty Middle School (that Lord of Life supports in several ways). WFCM stocks the FFF refrigerators with fresh food weekly to provide weekend meals for 700+ students in Centreville, Chantilly, and Westfield school pyramids.

Members of the Lord of Life congregation were also instrumental in supporting the student-led Liberty Middle School Food drive that collected more than 600 pounds of food. We are grateful for these partnerships, as it takes many caring connections to provide food and rent/utility assistance for our neighbors experiencing food insecurity and financial instability. Thank you!

Today we remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. WFCM is closed today and will reopen on Tuesday, May 26, to provide fresh healthy food and financial assistance for rent and utility bills to our neighbors facing food insecurity and financial instability. God bless our military families!
