We’re celebrating the ribbon cutting of a beautiful new playground at Fair Ridge Family Shelter!

For the families in the 300-bed program, this is more than a playground—it’s a space for children to laugh, play, and simply be kids during a challenging time.

A special shoutout to Fairfax County Office to Prevent and End Homelessness (OPEH), OPEH Facilities and Shelter House staff for the collaboration, coordination, and hard work that brought this project to life. Together, we are !

A heartfelt shout-out to the ladies of the Vale Club in Oakton and longtime supporters for their generous support of Shelter House!

This year, the Vale Club provided children in our Family PASS and Permanent Supportive Housing programs with backpacks filled with everything they need to start the new school year. 🎒📚✏️

Your generosity helps our children head back to school feeling prepared, confident, and supported. We are so grateful for your kindness and commitment to helping local families thrive!

Shop with a Sheriff is a special tradition at Shelter House that has been making a difference for more than 20 years. 💙

The Fairfax County Sheriff's Office recently continued this incredible tradition, shopping with about 40 children in our programs to make sure they have everything they need for a successful school year—including new shoes, special outfits, backpacks, school supplies, and so much more! 🎒👟👕📚

A heartfelt thank-you to Sheriff Kincaid and the many deputies who made this special day possible. We’re also grateful to Target Fairfax and Paisano's Pizza for their continued partnerships, Channel 16 for capturing the event, Rep. James Walkinshaw for joining us and for his ongoing support, and Sopa from our Board for being there to represent Shelter House.

For more than two decades, Shop with a Sheriff has shown our children that their community is behind them. We’re so grateful to everyone who continues to make this meaningful tradition possible and helps our kids start the school year feeling confident, prepared, and supported. ❤️
