This Father’s Day, we celebrate the fathers, father figures, and caregivers who provide love, guidance, and support to their families and communities. Their presence provides comfort in difficult moments, hope for the future, and a foundation on which families can thrive. 🌿 Every person who comes through our doors has strengths. Meet Holly. A resident at the Eleanor Kennedy Shelter, Holly has been gardening since she was a child. This season, she has taken the lead in caring for five garden beds, transforming them into a thriving space filled with vegetables, herbs, fruits, and flowers.

Under her care, the garden is producing eggplant, broccoli, sweet corn, collard greens, onions, beans, squash, radishes, strawberries, cucumbers, watermelon, bell peppers, hot peppers, basil, cilantro, mint, lavender, and even an orange tree. 🍓🌶️🍉🥒🫜🍊🧅🥬🌽🥦

For Holly, the joy is in the process—planting a seed and seeing what's possible. Her proudest achievement this season is the squash, thriving in the summer sun.

But the impact reaches beyond the garden beds. Fresh collard greens and onions grown by Holly have already been used in meals prepared by the shelter kitchen, helping nourish fellow residents.

The garden is producing food, but it's also cultivating something equally important: purpose, connection, and pride.

Holly's work reminds us that when people are given the opportunity to use their talents, entire communities benefit. Together, we are !

Join Shelter House on July 25 for a free screening of No Address Movie, a powerful film that brings the realities of homelessness into focus through stories of struggle, resilience, and hope.

Whether you're passionate about housing, community well-being, or simply want to learn more, we invite you to attend and help raise awareness about the challenges many of our neighbors face every day.
