We’re excited to team up with DeFlock Fairfax for their next big canvassing day TOMORROW in Reston! Come by anytime between 10:30am and 3pm to get flyers and go knock doors to spread the word about the need to ban ALPRs in Fairfax County. We'll be asking neighbors to sign on to the Deflock Fairfax email campaign and pack the room at the 10/27 board meeting.

RSVP at bit.ly/DFCanvass. Meeting location will be sent by email Friday evening to those who RSVP. Looking forward to seeing you there!

❤️‍🩹October Community Care Call❤️‍🩹

🗓️ Monday, October 26
⏰ 7:00 PM

SURJ NoVA’s Community Care Call is happening on October 26th at 7pm. This a space where white folks can learn how to process our emotions about current events together, instead of leaning on our BIPOC allies who are already holding so much. White supremacy conditions us to hide our vulnerabilities - so let’s smash white supremacy by being real with each other!

Infuriating to watch cops lie to our faces and supervisors continue to kick the can. We did not consent to this surveillance. ALPRs out of our communities now!

Support our friends at DeFlock Fairfax and send letters to Fairfax County supervisors demanding the removal of ALL ALPRs: bit.ly/DFLetter

🎃👻🕷️ Eat, Drink, And Ward Off The Election Scaries!

We are just a few weeks away from election day, and SURJ continues to get clear on our strategy to Win and Enforce the midterm results. First: win by the largest margin possible. Second: be prepared to defend the results.

Join us for a local in-person session in Annandale on 10/31 from 11am to 12:30pm to enjoy fall treats, good company, and to practice an election scenario grounded in love and rigor. The best way to ward off the scaries is to practice and connect with each other so we are ready to show up if or when a red line is crossed. P.S. a red line is a line we as a movement draw and respond to en masse if it happens.

We respectfully ask that if you sign up for this training, to do your best to attend, or change your RSVP if your plans change. Hocus pocus, it’s time to focus, and we hope to see you there!

Racism and scapegoating have been at the core of the authoritarian movement’s strategy since the Civil Rights movement won landmark change that massively threatened capitalists and oligarchs. So it’s critical that we center racial justice, especially the movements for Black political power in the US South, in our strategies to not just win in the short term, but win the multiracial democracy that we truly need.

Join SURJ in conversation with Southern political powerhouses, Rukia Lumumba and Justin Pearson, on the importance of building Southern Black political power and SURJ’s electoral plan for 2026 and the necessary work white people have to do in the upcoming midterm elections.
