Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association The Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association (SC&RA) is an international trade association of over 1,400 member companies from 46 countries.

SC&RA is organized into four groups under a Board of Directors. These groups focus on their specific concerns while working together for the common good:
•The Allied Industries Group provides a gamut of products and services for other SC&RA members. They rely on SC&RA’s major meetings to network with their customers and help the Association uphold its reputation for conducting first-class meetings by contributing thousands of dollars as event sponsors.
•The Crane & Rigging Group covers rigging, crane rental and millwright work and addresses such areas as labor relations; safety legislation, regulations and standards; trends in technology and equipment; permit policies and procedures for transporting cranes; and loss prevention, accident investigation and litigation management.
•The Ladies Group consists of women affiliated with or married to employees of an SC&RA member company. Members largely direct their efforts to furthering the SC&R Foundation, which provides industry-related research and scholarships to students preparing for a career in the industry.
•The Transportation Group encompasses the various specialized carriers and addresses such areas as federal regulations involving hours-of-service, electronic on-board recorders and load securement; regional permitting of oversize/overweight loads; pilot car best practices; anti-terrorism; and litigation concerns.

The 2026 SC&RA Future Leaders Forum brought together 30 current and former participants at SC&RA headquarters for two days of networking, professional development and candid conversations about the challenges and opportunities facing our industry.

The program featured a keynote from former NASA astronaut and Navy SEAL Captain Chris Cassidy, who shared insights on leadership and the importance of helping others succeed. Attendees also explored advocacy updates, compliance as a competitive advantage, and ways to build stronger connections across the Association.

Small-group discussions gave participants the opportunity to exchange ideas, tackle everyday challenges and share recommendations for how SC&RA can continue to drive progress. Industry group chairs Mike Tomaro of Fenton Rigging & Contracting, Inc.; Brett Berard of Berard Transportation; and Alex Ledger of U.S. Cargo Control discussed how their involvement in SC&RA has strengthened their professional growth and helped improve company performance.

With insights from SC&RA CEO Joel Dandrea and staff members Beth O’Quinn, Chris Smith and Jason Bell, the Forum reinforced the value of getting involved, learning from peers and building relationships that extend well beyond the event.

The next generation of industry leaders is building its network—and its impact here at SC&RA.

Last week, more than 750 attendees joined us in Omaha for the 2026 Crane & Rigging Workshop, along with a sold-out 96-booth Exhibit Center.

We had a lot of full rooms, busy hallways, committee discussions, new connections, familiar faces, and so many moments throughout the week that reminded us why this event matters so much to our industry.

This morning at the Crane & Rigging Workshop, attendees heard from Mackenzie Pelaez, Director of Partnerships, American Foundation for Su***de Prevention about something our industry cannot afford to overlook: the mental health and wellbeing of the people who make this work possible.

The conversation focused on recognizing warning signs, checking in when something doesn’t seem right, knowing how to approach someone who may be struggling and connecting people with the right support.

Through our partnership with Hard Hat Courage, our members have access to resources designed specifically to help the construction community address mental health and su***de prevention.

We’re SO excited to be in Omaha for day one of the 2026 Crane & Rigging Workshop!

It’s great to have so many people from across the crane and rigging industry together for these next few days, and the First Timers’ Reception was such a fun way to start things off. We loved meeting so many first-time attendees and seeing those new connections happening.
