The holidays can be fun for some but difficult to handle for others. In moments of unimaginable pain, no one should have to feel alone. At VTVCare, we listen to and stand beside survivors as they continue their journey long after the headlines fade. Each story we encounter is deeply human — not just about surviving, but about finding understanding, dignity, and healing at one’s own pace.

Through our VTVCare program, we create a compassionate space where shared experience becomes a source of comfort and strength. VTVCare supports the lasting emotional impact that can remain when others have moved on. Every donation helps restore hope, and a sense of stability.

Healing is not a path meant to be walked alone. Connect with us, listen with care, and help us build a community rooted in empathy and support — at www.VTVCare.org.

Wishing you a peaceful holiday season.

Created by the families of the largest mass shooting on a college campus in US history, 32 National Campus Safety Initiativeâ„¢ (32 NCSIâ„¢) is a landmark program offered through a partnership between NASPA and the VTV Family Outreach Foundation that empowers college and university campus communities to make more informed decisions about campus safety. Developed by a team of leading experts, 32 NCSI is a robust self-assessment tool that colleges and universities can use to conduct an objective analysis of a full range of institutional safety and security facilities, policies, and procedures. Every college in the US needs to do this NOW. We learned the hard way. https://www.naspa.org/project/32-ncsi

Each December, we remember the children and educators whose lives were taken at Sandy Hook Elementary School. This date changed what this month means for so many families.

This year, in the days after that remembrance, our country has seen devastating shootings at Brown University in Rhode Island, Kentucky State University, and in Stockton, California. Together, they are a painful reminder that the impact of mass violence doesn’t end when the cameras leave. Survivors, families, students, and entire communities live with the emotional, physical, and financial aftermath for years.

That’s why VTV Care and the VTV Family Outreach Foundation are calling for state-level mass violence care funds to provide long-term, trauma-informed support. Read and share our recent op-eds on why this matters:

On April 16, as we approach the 18th year anniversary of the largest mass shooting on a college campus in US history, I reflect on the lives and legacy of 32 young adults and their professors killed, the 17 physically wounded, and so many more psychologically traumatized, the community impacted, and the ripple sent throughout the world. The true heroes are those that stood in the face of a disgruntled and disturbed young man, who could have received help. The true heroes are the families, the survivors, friends, and community that stood up for change to make our campuses safer; and who continue to advocate for a sustainable and perpetual model of long-term financial care for those that are impacted by mass violence events in this country. We know who you are, we know what is needed. Thank you to all Virginians, and legislators, who supported our First in the Nation Mass Violence Care Fund initiated by Governor Youngkin in his 2024 budget. We hope that other states, as Maine has, will follow in our footsteps. What better way to honor lives lost and the healing of those in need. Please pledge a small monthly donation to support all heroes impacted by mass shootings and mass violence events.

We are here to help fund the long-term physical and psychological care needs of mass shootings survivors so that they might be able to achieve some form of recovery, new normalcy and, hopefully, joy in life once more.
