T.A.N.D.E.M. — The Alzheimer's 'n' Dementia Encouragement Mission — is YMCA of the Chesapeake's free program supporting individuals living with dementia and their care partners through movement, music, art, and real human connection. This summer, TANDEM is expanding to five locations across the Eastern Shore:
📍 Easton Family YMCA
📍 Queen Anne's County Family YMCA
📍 Caroline County YMCA (NEW)
📍 Kent County YMCA (NEW)
📍 Robbins Family YMCA — Dorchester County (NEW)

And it's provided completely free of charge to our community.

Did you know Father's Day started at the Y? 🎉

The first Father's Day service was held on July 19, 1910 — and the YMCA was right there, helping make it happen. Over a century later, we're still celebrating father figures of every kind: dads, stepdads, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, and the men who show up every day.

This Father's Day, give the gift of time together. The Y has something for every family — from swim lessons to pickleball to family fitness classes. Come make memories.

Thank you to our media partners for highlighting our work across all of our branches during Water Safety Month in May! Our team reached 600 children and families through water safety education and hands-on learning. We proudly partnered with schools, youth programs, and families to teach critical skills that can help prevent drowning and build confidence around water.

We’re excited to make this summer our best one yet! Join us throughout the season for fun-filled Summer Family Engagement events designed to bring families together and create lasting memories.

We're kicking off the summer with two exciting events this month:
👕 June 19: Tie-Dye by the Pool
Bring your own garment and create a colorful tie-dye masterpiece while enjoying the outdoor pool.
⛵ June 26: DIY Pool Noodle Boats
Build your own boat using pool noodles and see how it floats in the outdoor pool!

Additional Information:
• All events are first come, first served.
• Participants must have an active Family Membership (membership must include both adults and children).
• Access to the outdoor pool requires an active membership in good standing.

Hot weather calls for pool days! ☀️🏊 Escape the heat and take a refreshing dip in our outdoor pool.

While you're swimming this summer, you may notice our four-legged front desk employee, Teal! Teal is currently being trained by our front desk staff member, Julia, to become a guide dog for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. While Teal is working and wearing her vest, she cannot be pet, but feel free to ask questions about the work she is doing!
