Same Porsche. Different diamond. More than 40 years apart.

Back in the 1980s, an SYA baseball team appeared on the cover of Gmünd, an international magazine.

Fast-forward to 2026, some help from and we recreated that cover with the SAME 1984 Porsche 944 and a new generation of SYA athletes!

🔎 Now we're hoping to solve a little SYA mystery!

Do you recognize anyone in the original photo? Were you there? Or do you know the mom who took it? Tell us in the comments or tag someone who might know! And if you played SYA sports back in the day, we'd love to hear what sport and when. ❤️🖤

⚾️ Travel Tuesday ⚾️

Our SYA Mets 8U travel team competed in the Halloween Havoc tournament this weekend, our second tournament of the season, and went 2–0 in pool play to earn the #1 seed heading into Championship Sunday!

Trailing 8–4 heading into the bottom of the sixth and final inning, the team rallied for three runs and loaded the bases with a chance to walk it off and advance to the championship. We came up just short, falling 8–7 in the semifinals, but these kids showed grit, resilience, and a whole lot of heart.

Plenty of lessons learned and memories made. Beyond proud of this team and the way they represented SYA Baseball all weekend!

Go SYA! ⚾️

✈️Travel Tuesday🥇

An unforgettable weekend at the Ripken Experience in Aberdeen MD this past weekend. SYA Mets 9U and SYA Mets 12U played in the Curtain Call tournament and both teams had a blast together. 12U kicked off the start of tournament Friday night on Cal Sr Yard and 9U “embrace the suck” for a brisk 8AM game on Saturday. 9U got the privilege to play their 2nd pool play game on Cal Sr. Field, which was an unforgettable experience in itself. Both teams went 2-0 in pool play and both were the 3 seed for the elimination brackets.

Sunday morning was an early brisk morning for both teams, 8AM game times. “Embrace the suck, be better in the cold than the other team” was the saying for the morning as both teams took BP side by side in the cages. Both Mets teams were victorious in their quarterfinal game games, off to the semifinals! Everett Wise had a solid performance on the mound for 9U. Landon Costello was dominant in relief for 12U, giving up 1 hit, 0 runs and 3 k’s over 4 innings.

9U’s run came to an end in the semifinals with a tough 6-4 loss to a very talented team. Boys were definitely disappointed, but had a blast together and are excited to go back again in the coming years.

12U had a dominant pitching performance by Brayden Hughes in the semifinal game securing an 8-1 win and a spot in the championship game on Cal Sr. Yard. In the championship game boys jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning, which proved to be all the runs they needed. Blake Crigler got the job done on the mound through 5-1/3 innings with Anthony Comottor coming in to shut the door in the top of 6th to secure the victory.

Mets 12U offense was on fire, 57 hits and 48 runs over 5 games. Maddox Sartori was named MVP of the tournament for hitting .800 and being lights out on defense.

As one journey begins another comes to an end. 9U boys got their first experience and 12U saw what is probably their last time playing on the “small” fields at Ripken Aberdeen. Over the career of the 12U group at Ripken Aberdeen they have finished top 4 twice and won it all two times. An impressive run for the SYA Mets!

This , we’re giving a shoutout to Cam Hall, who gives his time to SYA Diamond Sports, SYA Basketball, and, in 2027, the SYA Executive BOD!

We caught up with Cam recently to ask, "Why Volunteer?" Cam says, "I wanted to give coaching a try, and I also thought it would allow me to spend more time with my son, Caleb. Baseball and basketball have given Caleb and me the opportunity to spend additional quality time together, while doing something we both enjoy and that's still my favorite part of coaching. Along the way, I've also really enjoyed helping young athletes learn, grow, build confidence, and have a positive experience in recreational sports....

Cam notes, "SYA is where I played youth baseball and basketball after moving. when I was 11. As the new kid, SYA helped me make new friends, feel welcome, and do one of the things I love so much: participate in organized sports! Now I have the opportunity to give back to the same organization that had such a positive impact on my childhood while watching Caleb create memories of his own. I’m all in!!"

Thanks for giving back to the community, Cam!❤️

⚾️ Travel Tuesday! ⚾️

Our Mets 8U travel team represented SYA Baseball with pride at our first tournament of the season in Olney, Maryland! The team went 2–0 in pool play, outscoring our opponents 28–4 across two games.

Unfortunately, Sunday’s bracket games were canceled, and we finished in second place based on the tiebreaker. We were excited for the chance to keep competing, but couldn’t be prouder of this group!

An amazing weekend of baseball, competition, and memories! Go SYA! ⚾️
