Another young (8 months- 1 year approx.) Malinois is sitting in a high-kill South Texas shelter waiting for someone to say yes.

And before anyone asks… some of our best dogs have come from shelters.

✅ Vetting covered
✅ Supplies provided
✅ Rescue support provided
✅ We help coordinate transportation

Texas fosters are required so we can complete vetting and rescue protocols. Once ready, dogs can be adopted out of state.

You know how this works.

A dog runs out of time.

A life gets saved.

💔 She Doesn’t Know The Difference. Dani doesn’t know she was on a euthanasia list.

She doesn’t know people spent hours networking, advocating, transporting, and fighting to get her out.

She only knows where she sleeps tonight. And tonight, that’s still boarding.

But she’s still waiting.

She does need FHO surgery. Before you scroll thinking that sounds overwhelming, let me tell you something:

It’s really not.

I’m currently helping a dog through a total hip replacement recovery, which is far more restrictive than an FHO. An FHO recovery is absolutely doable for someone who cares and is willing to follow directions.

The beginning involves crate rest. Then controlled leash walks. Then gradually increasing activity.

That’s it. Well and just a heart.

We’ll provide support. We’ll cover her medical care. We’ll help guide you through the process.

Dani doesn’t need a superhero.

She needs someone willing to say, “You can stay here.”

📍 Foster ideally within driving distance of San Antonio.
🏡 Fenced yard preferred.
🪜 Fewer stairs is best for recovery.

🔥 Shot Twice. Left For Dead. Phoenix Rose. 🔥

A few months ago, Phoenix was shot twice and left to die.

For weeks, she survived completely on her own, injured and alone, until someone finally stepped up and got her the help she desperately needed. That call changed everything.

Today, Phoenix is thriving.

She’s fostered with a Malinois-savvy family alongside another Malinois, and despite losing a leg, she never got the memo that she’s supposed to slow down. Three legs haven’t slowed her down one bit.

She loves splashing in the water, chasing squirrels, exploring new places, and recently had an absolute blast visiting her foster family’s farm. Her fosters are even looking into dock diving because they think she’d be a natural. 💦🐾

The name Phoenix comes from the mythical bird that rises from its own ashes after everything seems lost. It’s hard to imagine a more fitting name for this girl.

Phoenix is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, so she isn’t ready for adoption just yet. For now, her job is to heal, recover, and continue proving everyone wrong about what a three-legged dog can do.

When she is ready, Phoenix will be looking for an active home that understands the Malinois brain. She’ll need adventure, training, engagement, and plenty of opportunities to use both her body and her mind.

For now, we’re just enjoying watching her rise. 🔥❤️

Her story is also a reminder of something important: if you see something, say something. If you see an animal in trouble, do something. Be the person you wish had shown up sooner. Phoenix is alive today because one person decided not to look away and then another person stepped up to foster.

🚨 Someone Dumped Her. Tomorrow She Enters A High-Kill Shelter. Texas Foster Needed. 🚨

This sweet young Malinois is running out of time.

She was dumped at a gas station and found by the manager of a nearby RV park. They’ve been keeping her safe, but they can’t keep her. Right now, she’s spending her days in a 48” crate in their office.

If we can’t find a foster, she’ll be taken to a high-kill shelter tomorrow.

💗 Approximately 1 year old

🏡 Long overdue, but Maverick is home! 🏡

Maverick was part of the NTX litter, found abandoned on the side of the road with three of his siblings. What started as a rough beginning turned into exactly the ending we hoped for.

It’s safe to say Maverick has been thriving in his new home and living his best life. 💙

Thank you to everyone who helped him along the way, from the people who stopped to help, to his new family who said “yes.”

🚨 TEXAS FOSTER NEEDED 🚨
This young Malinois was recently found after being dumped and is looking for a foster home where she can finally exhale. 💗

From her finder:

🐾 Good demeanor with dogs and people
💗 Sweet natured
📦 Crate trained
⚡ Young, active, and loves to run and play

She has shown no signs of aggression and has quickly won over everyone she’s met. A vet checked for a microchip and believes she is a younger dog.

📍 Currently in Conroe, but we will coordinate transportation anywhere in Texas for the right foster.

🏡 Fosters must be located in Texas and have a securely fenced yard. This girl loves to run and play, and a fenced yard will help keep her safe while she settles in.

Today, all of us at WorkDog Rescue — our Board of Directors, volunteers, and supporters — want to recognize and honor these incredible men who are always there for us, our rescue, and most importantly, our dogs.

Whether they're helping behind the scenes, transporting dogs, fostering, fundraising, volunteering at events, lending a helping hand, or simply showing up whenever they're needed, their dedication and support make a lasting difference every single day.

Patti looks like she should be patrolling the perimeter.

Instead, she’s busy making friends 👯‍♀️

As a fresh 1 year old, Patti approaches life with the enthusiasm of a dog who thinks every day is the best day ever. She loves to play, loves to meet new people, and has never met a dog stranger.

You may be here because you love Malinois. Don’t worry, Patti comes from good stock. Her mom was a very sweet, loving Malinois mix who found her forever home last fall. Patti definitely inherited the friendly gene. 💜
