Why Solomon’s Porch

The Lord laid this name for the ministry on my heart (Amanda) in early 2019 while I was reading through the book of Acts. At the time, we didn’t have a lot of clarity on the fine details of our ministry; but we knew we wanted to model it after Solomon’s Porch.

In the book of Acts, Solomon’s Porch was an early meeting place for the New Testament church. In Acts 5:12 the Bible states that the apostles did many signs and wonders among the people and that is where they were together with one accord. Another instance was after Peter healed the man at the gate Beautiful, Acts 3:11 mentions that the people ran together to meet them in Solomon’s porch. To be “with one accord” could also be translated to be “with one mind.” The people in the New Testament were gathered in Solomon’s Porch unified through Christ Jesus. They were experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit and being witness to many signs and wonders. They were also being equipped by the apostles and believers were increasingly being added to the Lord!

We believe that Solomon’s Porch is the perfect name for our transformational living center. Solomon means “Peace.” Our desire is to see the property we hope to obtain, be a place of peace where we are all together with one accord and where we witness healing, heart transformation, and restoration of families. Through our ministry we desire to train and equip people to understand their true identity in Jesus Christ, while providing stable living accommodations, so that they can be sent out as disciples to their cities and communities; and even to the ends of the earth.

The Who: • Children & Families within the foster care system • Men & Women (with children) in transition from addiction recovery or incarceration • Single Parents & Families in Crisis

The Vision: • To see Healing, Restoration and Holy Spirit Empowerment • To be a place where Heaven and Earth meet to encounter God’s generosity and healing presence • To be people of peace who don’t conform to the status-quo • To eventually propel and further God’s Kingdom in MKE & beyond through the graduates

The How: To establish a transformational living center where... • We will create a Christ-Centered, goal-oriented, individual-based plan for each resident/family • We will provide support staff, such as family advocates, counselors, teachers, and mentors for accountability and encouragement throughout the process • We will create a community that fosters a family environment during and after their time with us – A community that worships together, dines together and trusts in the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

About Us: Adam and Amanda are lovers of Jesus and lovers of His people. They desire to see the Kingdom of Heaven here on Earth and are so filled with grace and hope for the people of Milwaukee. Adam is a native of Port Washington and Amanda of Milwaukee. They currently reside in Milwaukee and have three children, Stella, Jackson and Lucy. They are foster parents and over the course of the past few years they’ve fostered numerous children and have also adopted. The Lord has given them His heart for healing and restoration of families in the foster care system. He has also opened their eyes to the systemic injustice that many inner-city parents encounter; specifically, as they overcome a past of addiction or incarceration. As a result of their experience in each of these areas, the Lord has birthed the vision for Solomon’s Porch Ministries, and they believe that through this ministry there will be healing and transformation that will propel the people involved to greatly impact the city of Milwaukee and beyond. Their desire is to see hearts transformed and families.
