Central Rivers Area Education Agency Central Rivers AEA serves over 62,000 students. Learn more at http://www.centralriversaea.org.

In addition, over 5,000 educators rely on our services in special education, school technology, media, and instructional/curriculum support. Central Rivers AEA is one of nine Area Education Agencies created in 1974 by the Iowa legislature to ensure equal educational opportunities for all children from birth through age 21. Support to local schools is provided through three service areas: Educational Services, Information & Technology and Special Education. Area Education Agencies are funded from federal-aid and state-aid payments; legislatively controlled property tax; federal, state and private grants; and tuition for classes. A nine-member board of directors is elected by local school boards to govern budget decisions. The chief administrator handles the daily operation of the agency's divisions, each of which is headed by a director. In addition to the main office in Cedar Falls, the agency also has main offices in Marshalltown and Clear Lake. Central Rivers AEA Facebook Guidelines

Did you know that the University of Northern Iowa's "Grow Your Own" program is a collaborative partnership between UNI’s School Psychology Program and seven of Iowa's Area Education Agencies?

The program aims at expanding access to mental health services for children and adolescents in underserved rural communities across Iowa. 👏🙌

You can earn your Specialist in School Psychology degree while continuing to work full-time, with flexible pathways available whether you currently hold a bachelor's or a master's degree. To support your journey, this program covers 90% of tuition and fees, provides your books and pays for travel costs, internship licensure, and national exam fees. In exchange for this support, graduates commit to working for three years at their local AEA after completing the program. 🙌

As an OT, you’ll help students build skills they need for everyday success by working closely with teachers, families and support staff. Did you know that dyslexia affects one in five people? In honor of Dyslexia Awareness Month this October, Central Rivers AEA invites parents, families and educators to a Dyslexia Community Night on Tuesday, October 20, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at our Cedar Falls office (1521 Technology Parkway)!

This special event, generously sponsored by VGM Group, Inc. in Waterloo, features an interactive simulation that lets attendees experience reading and writing through the eyes of a student with dyslexia, offering valuable insight into the daily challenges they face. You'll also learn key signs and symptoms across different age groups and connect with local support specialists.

Last week, our Early ACCESS team spent the day visiting community partners across the area to build stronger connections and spread the word about the services we offer. 🙌

Together, we are building connections that help ensure children, families and caregivers have access to the information, resources and support they need to promote the best possible outcomes for our youngest children. đź‘Ź

One thing that makes EA special is that it focuses on helping children learn in their everyday routines. Whether it’s mealtime, playtime, or bedtime, parents are their child’s first and most important teachers.

A look at the impact of the day:
•Visited over 53 towns/school districts throughout Central Rivers AEA.
•Over 30 CRAEA Early ACCESS staff members made connections.
•Over 150 organizations visited and connected with!

We are grateful for the many community partners who welcomed our staff, shared resources and joined us in strengthening the network of support available to young children and their families. đź‘Ź
