We are thrilled to share that Roger White has been honored with a Mayors' Volunteer Award!

Nominated by the Cedar Valley Trails Partnership, Roger was recognized for his outstanding dedication to maintaining and improving our local trail networks across Cedar Valley.

This well-deserved honor is a beautiful tribute to his years of dedication, especially following his retirement from our Partnership board this past January. Presented annually by the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley, these awards celebrate individuals who give their time and talents to better our community.

Thank you, Roger, for your exceptional service, hard work, and the lasting legacy you've left on our trails!

The Cedar Valley Bicycle Collective is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting bicycling as a healthy, sustainable mode of transportation and recreation. Through volunteerism, bike refurbishment, frame recycling, and community partnerships, the Collective has worked to make cycling accessible to everyone in the Cedar Valley since 2012.

IOWA TRAILS and BIKE SUMMIT - OCTOBER 9 & 10
University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls

This year’s conference will combine the Iowa Trails Summit and Iowa Bike Summit to bring together enthusiasts, advocates and professionals from across Iowa and beyond. The conference will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities. These opportunities provide platforms for discussion and collaboration on a variety of topics such as trail development (acquisition, phasing, and construction), on street cycling accommodations and network planning, maintenance, volunteer management, policy, promotion, and marketing.

The Summits aim to inspire, educate, and empower attendees to continue to support Iowa as the World Capital of Trails and a more bicycle-friendly state.

On Monday, July 7, the City's hired contractor, Boulder Contracting, will begin reconstruction on part of the Prairie Lakes Trail system. For the contractor to start, the western part of the trail around South Prairie Lake will be closed. The trial will remain closed for the duration of construction. This work is anticipated to take four to six weeks, weather dependent.

For safety's sake, please stay off the trail during construction and follow the traffic control measures placed by the contractor.
