Daphne Kalotay to Interview Bonnie Garmus in Cambridge

Catwalk Institute proudly shares news from Daphne Kalotay (Catwalk 2014, Vassar), who will interview bestselling author Bonnie Garmus about her new novel Peck & Peck on October 24 at First Parish Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Garmus is the author of Lessons in Chemistry, while Kalotay is the award-winning author of Russian Winter, Sight Reading, Blue Hours, and The Archivists. The evening will include a conversation about Garmus’s new novel, followed by audience questions and book signing. Tickets include a copy of Peck & Peck, and additional copies will be available for purchase at the event.

Amanda Petrusich at the 2026 New Yorker Festival

Catwalk Institute proudly shares news from Amanda Petrusich (Catwalk 2018, Columbia), who will appear as a featured interviewer at the 27th annual New Yorker Festival, taking place October 23–25, 2026, in New York City. Petrusich, a staff writer at The New Yorker and author of three books on music and culture, will moderate two major Webster Hall conversations with musicians: King Princess on Friday, October 23 at 8:30 PM, followed by Pixies on Saturday, October 24 at 8 PM. Both events combine conversation with live performance. The festival brings together writers, filmmakers, musicians, actors, and other cultural figures at venues throughout Manhattan.

Judd Morrissey — Latent Laughing Medusa in Bergen

Catwalk Institute proudly shares news from Judd Morrissey (Catwalk 2022, Winter Residency), whose performance Latent Laughing Medusa will be presented in Bergen, Norway, as part of After Virtual Reality: Extending Immersive Narrative, a three-day international symposium organized by the Center for Digital Narrative at the University of Bergen in conjunction with the Bergen International Film Festival. Morrissey's live performance uses generative AI, somatic writing, and audience participation to explore what happens when language is no longer controlled by a single human or machine voice.

Sari Nordman — Weaving with Sari Nordman at King Manor

Catwalk Institute proudly shares news from Sari Nordman (Catwalk 2025, NYU/Tisch), whose ongoing Anxiety project continues this fall with a public workshop at King Manor Museum in Jamaica, Queens. Nordman will lead participants in creating wearable accessories from recycled plastic, teaching a simple knotting technique that transforms discarded materials into colorful fiber work. The workshop grows directly from her ongoing Anxiety project, which uses recycled plastic to explore ecological anxiety, environmental responsibility, and collective making.

Julia Solomonoff’s The Illusion of an Everlasting Summer Wins at San Sebastián

Catwalk Institute proudly shares news from Julia Solomonoff (Catwalk 2026, Columbia), producer of The Illusion of an Everlasting Summer, directed by photographer and filmmaker Alessandra Sanguinetti. The documentary recently won the Horizontes Latinos Award at the 74th San Sebastián International Film Festival, along with the festival’s DAMA Youth Award. The film follows two Argentine cousins over 25 years, from childhood through adulthood and motherhood, combining Sanguinetti’s long-term photography with moving images. The film will continue its festival run this month with screenings at Film Fest Gent in Belgium and the Chicago International Film Festival, including Chicago screenings October 17 and 18.

Faith Wilding Featured in A Q***r Arcana Through October 18

Catwalk Institute proudly shares news from Faith Wilding (Catwalk 2010, SAIC), whose work is included in A Q***r Arcana: Art, Magic, and Spirit at Palm Springs Art Museum through October 18, 2026. Curated by David Evans Frantz, the exhibition brings together artists across generations to explore how magic, spirituality, and esoteric knowledge have shaped q***r art and culture. The exhibition considers how artists draw on spiritual traditions as sources of connection, transformation, and resistance. Visitors can see the exhibition at the museum’s Main Museum in Palm Springs, California; museum admission is required.
