For all those who have “Don’t Stop Believin,” “Open Arms,” and “Faithfully” etched in their memories, Voyager, the premier Journey tribute band, will be at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts (19501 Redwood Road), Saturday, October 10 at 7:30pm, ready to take you down memory lane! The band brings the blistering guitar solos, lush keyboard arrangements, electrifying stage presence, and the stunning harmonies that audiences expect. Voyager has honed their craft playing at venues around the country, including the historic Tabernacle Theatre in Atlanta and the House of Blues in Dallas. Band members include: Darwin Santos/lead vocalist, Andy Martin/lead guitarist, Kevin Sage/keyboard and guitar, Billy Fry/bassist, and Tommy Dears/drummer. Together since 2017, they are based in Phoenix, Arizona.
The original Journey rock band was formed in San Francisco in 1973 by former members of Santana, the Steve Miller Band, and Frumious Bandersnatch. Steve Perry joined the band in 1977 and was the voice of their biggest commercial success between 1978 and 1987. They released more than 15 hit songs, including "Lights" (1978), "Any Way You Want It" (1980), "Don't Stop Believin'" (1981), "Open Arms" (1981), and "Girl Can't Help It" (1986). Journey performed at five of Bill Graham's "Day on the Green" concerts at the Oakland Coliseum between 1976 and 1983. The band's personnel lineup has changed several times since they first formed in 1973. Journey was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. After fifty years of touring, Journey announced that 2026 would be the end of their in-person stage presence. Journey’s legacy endures as one of the defining acts of classic rock.
