Donald Trump’s decision to stop officially recognizing World AIDS Day is an act of erasure against people living with HIV, those we’ve lost, and the communities who’ve fought for decades.

At Castro Valley Pride, we have proudly had the honor each year of displaying a portion of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. Every panel holds a name, a story, a life — and a promise that we will never forget.

No president can cancel that promise.

We stand with people living with HIV, long-term survivors, caregivers, and activists. We commit to fighting stigma, defending funding for treatment and prevention, and honoring those we’ve lost by showing up for the living.

Trump may walk away from World AIDS Day — we won’t.
