October 15 is White Cane Safety Day! ❤️🤍

Today, we celebrate the independence and achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and recognize the white cane as an essential tool for safe, independent travel.

At Freedom Guide Dogs, independence is at the heart of our mission. Whether someone travels with a white cane, a guide dog, or both, everyone deserves to navigate their community safely and confidently.

We can all help by keeping sidewalks and crosswalks clear, staying alert behind the wheel, and asking before offering assistance. Never grab someone or their cane—let them tell you how you can help.

Together, we can make our communities safer and more accessible for everyone.

We are just two weeks away from coming together to celebrate the lives and legacy of our founders, Eric & Sharon Loori. ❤️🐾

Their dedication built Freedom Guide Dogs and changed countless lives through the gift of independence. We look forward to sharing memories, honoring their work, and carrying their mission forward.

🚨 Freedom Guide Dogs family, we need your help! Please help us bring Zelda home! 🚨

Zelda, our future guide dog puppy in training, is missing from the Sweetwater, Tennessee area. She is a female, spayed yellow Labrador and is microchipped.

Lucy, her volunteer puppy raiser’s personal dog, is also missing. We do not know whether they are still together, and there have been very few reported sightings of either dog.

We are desperately trying to find Zelda and bring her home safely. If you have seen her, know where she may be, or have any information please contact Freedom Guide Dogs directly at 315.822.5132 or send our page a private message. Any detail could help.

Please SHARE this post and help us reach people in Sweetwater and the surrounding communities. Even if you live elsewhere, someone you know may be able to help.

New litter announcement! 🐾💛 Our E litter turned 2 weeks old today! Born to Hope & Hutch, these 5 puppies, 3 females and 2 males, have an exciting journey ahead.

What if we told you these little faces could one day change someone’s life? 💛🐾

These eight puppies in our nursery are just beginning their journey toward becoming guide dogs. One day, they could help someone who is blind navigate safely, travel with confidence, and enjoy greater independence.

Today, their world is full of naps, snuggles, and discoveries. Ahead of them are months of learning, puppy raising, and specialized training, all with the hope of becoming a trusted partner by someone’s side.

This October, during Blindness Awareness Month, we’re sharing eight little reminders of where that life-changing journey begins.

☕️ Happy National Coffee Day! ☕️

Today, there are plenty of places giving away free coffee, and we thought it was the perfect day to introduce you to Latte! 🐾🤎

Latte is a Freedom Guide Dogs puppy in training, generously sponsored by Six Dot Paws in partnership with Ridge Top Coffee. We are so grateful for their support of Latte and his journey toward becoming a guide dog.

And just like many of us can enjoy a free cup of coffee today, Latte will one day be given completely free of charge to the person who receives him as their guide dog. ❤️🦮

Freedom Guide Dogs provides fully trained guide dogs at no cost to the individuals we serve. There is never a charge for the dog, training, or ongoing support.

That is only possible because of generous supporters, sponsors, volunteers, puppy raisers, and partners like Six Dot Paws and Ridge Top Coffee who believe in what we do.
