Is Jesus our number one priority?

“And he himself existed and is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” His is the controlling, cohesive force of the universe. Colossians 1:17.

This verse tells us that Jesus is holding everything together. What an amazing truth. Think about it. We can’t have good marriages or friendships if Jesus isn’t holding them together. Nothing works right without Jesus, so be sure that you invite him into everything you do.
If Jesus is not the most important thing in our lives, then we need to rearrange our priorities. Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek God and His kingdom first, because if we don’t have first things first, then everything else will be out of order and cause us problems. If you haven’t done it yet, I encourage you to start today, giving Jesus first place in your life.

Today’s thought: when you reprioritize your life, putting Jesus at the top of the list, you’ll be amazed at how everything else will come together for your good.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:4–6



“Take Your Seat and Begin to Reign"

There are many believers who are defeated because they are struggling to qualify for God’s blessings through their own works.

What you need to understand is that self-effort will rob you of reigning in life by God’s grace. You cannot earn your salvation, healing, or financial breakthrough by your own efforts. If the greatest miracle—being saved and made alive with Jesus—comes by grace through faith, and not by your works, how much more the lesser miracles, such as healing, provision, and restored marriages?

It is not about your work or performance, but Jesus’ work and performance. Only His work is a finished work. And not only did He sit down at the Father’s right hand, but today’s scripture states that He also made us sit with Jesus! What does this mean? Well, church "sitting down” in the Bible is a picture of the believer resting in the perfect and finished work of Jesus.
Christ has finished all the work on the cross on your behalf and is now seated at the right hand of God. As it has all been accomplished on your behalf, this means that you can stop depending on your self-efforts to earn and qualify for God’s blessings in your life. You can sit down with Jesus at the Father’s right hand!
Now, I am not advocating a life of passiveness and laziness regarding the study of God’s Word, prayer, or worship. When it comes to success in your job, God’s grace does not make you lazy and unproductive. On the contrary, it makes you labor more abundantly for His glory.
The apostle Paul, a preacher of God’s grace and the finished work of Jesus, said that he “labored more abundantly than they all” (1 Cor. 15:10). What you need to realize is, in the new covenant, God’s way is to bless you first, and the knowledge of His blessing then empowers you to labor more abundantly.
Simply this, we do not labor to be blessed, but rather we have the power to labor because we are already blessed. Can you see the different premise for laboring in the new covenant?

Church, Jesus has accomplished everything for us on the cross. Our part is to trust in His perfect work. Receive with open arms His abundance of grace and His gift of righteousness, and sit down and begin to reign in life through Him.

Today, Let the Holy Spirit teach you to start depending on Jesus’ finished work and to start receiving by His grace. This is God’s way to success, wholeness, and victorious living!

Be yourself.
“I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are your works and that my soul knows you very well.” Psalm 139:14.
In order to overcome insecurities and be the person God has called you to be, it is important to have the courage to be different. Unhappiness and frustration happen when we reject our uniqueness and try to be like others. God wants you to like and accept the person he created you to be, rather than trying to live up to other people’s expectations or be what you think they want you to be.

Ask yourself, am I a people pleaser or a God pleaser? Real peace and joy in life come when we focus on pleasing not God, not man. God knew what he was doing when he made you. You are uniquely, individually, fearfully and wonderfully made by him.

Today’s thought: accept yourself as a new creature in Christ Jesus and gain security and confidence by discovering you are in him. Let’s dig deeper into God’s word and study and review Ephesians 4:24 and Psalm 139:13.

Fellowship with God.
“In the night, my soul longs for you, O Lord. Indeed, my spirit within me seeks you diligently. For only when your judgments are experienced on the earth will the inhabitants of your world learn righteousness.” Isaiah 26:9.
Nothing can satisfy our longing for God except communion and fellowship with Him. Isaiah expressed well our own hunger for God when he wrote, “In the night, my soul longs for you, O Lord. Indeed, my spirit within me seeks you diligently.” Isaiah needed quiet times with God, and so do we.
Hearing from God is vital to enjoying His eternal plan for our lives. Listening to God is our decision. No one else can make it for us. God won’t force us to choose His will, but He will do everything He can to encourage us to say yes to His ways. This means God wants to be involved in even the smallest details of our lives. His word tells us to acknowledge Him in all our ways, and He will direct our paths in Proverbs 3:6.
To acknowledge God is to care what He thinks and to ask for His opinion. If you do this on a daily basis, you will find His guidance and walk in a much closer relationship with Him.

Today’s thought: God is always speaking. The question is: are we listening?

Why am I having problems?
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test you, that is, to test the quality of your faith as though something strange or unusual were happening to you.” 1 Peter 4:12.
One reason we go through challenges is to test the quality of our faith. Often we find ourselves wishing we had faith as strong as another person. But let me assure you that if that person has a strong, vibrant faith, they did not develop it easily.
No one who does anything worthwhile for God has traveled on an easy road. Doing great things for God requires character, and character is developed by passing life’s tests and staying faithful to him through them. The next time you encounter some sort of test or challenge, determine to believe God will work it out for good.
Pass the test and trust God to promote you to new levels of power and blessings.

Today’s thought: Instead of asking why are you having challenges, ask God to help you have a right response to them.

Love that is freely offered.
“For you, O Lord, are good, and ready to forgive our sins, sending them away completely, letting them go forever and ever. And abundant in loving kindness and overflowing in mercy to all who will call upon you.” Psalm 86:5.
In our relationships with our partners or others, we may have had to perform in a certain way in order to earn their love. But God’s love is not like that.
His love is freely offered to all who receive it by faith. Though God does get angry at sin, wickedness, and evil, He is not an angry God. God hates sin, and He loves the sinners. He is good and ready to forgive. He is abundant in mercy and filled with loving kindness. God will never give up on us, and He will continue to work with us toward positive change in our lives. God never stops loving us for one second. He meets us right where we are and helps us get to where we need to be.

Today’s thought: it is because of God’s great love that He refuses to leave us alone, lost and abandoned in sin.

Pull the seed before it takes root.
“Having been deeply rooted in him and now being continually built up in him and becoming increasingly more established in your faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing in it with gratitude.” Colossians 2:7.
There are good seeds and bad seeds. Things we do not want to get rooted into our lives. When a seed is planted, it takes a while before it has long, strong roots.
Should the seed be dug up and discarded before it has opportunity to take root, there would never be any fruit from it. When we experience a thought, an emotion, a behavior, or a fear that we don’t want to become a permanent fixture, the best thing to do is resist it at its onset.
Be aggressive in confronting it and firm in your decision not to give in to it. Always remember that the longer you let something linger, the longer it will take to get rid of it.

Today’s thought: don’t merely submit to a negative emotion without a fight. But when you fight, always remember to fight in God’s power and not your own.

Embracing hope.

. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing through the experience of your faith, that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope, and overflow with confidence in His promises.” Romans 15:13.
Regardless of who you are or what condition your life is in, you can’t function successfully without hope in God. If circumstances are bad, you surely need hope, and if they are good, we need hope that they will stay that way.
Hope energizes and motivates us to take action by causing us to step out in faith and act in obedience to God’s word.
Hope believes boldly, decides daringly, speaks firmly, and perseveres passionately. Hope expects something good to happen. When we embrace hope and purpose, it influences our thoughts, our outlook, and the way we speak. Hope builds us up as we wait on God. It releases joy, and the joy of the Lord becomes our source of strength. Nehemiah 8:10.

Today’s thought: dare to hope. Dare to dream. Dare to expect something wonderful to happen to you.

A fresh start.
“And I will compensate you for the years that the swarming locust has eaten. You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never be put to shame.” Joel 2:25 and 26.
All throughout scripture, God redeemed and used regular people in mighty ways. Our God is the God of do-overs, second chances, fresh starts, and new beginnings.
Maybe you’re stuck, frozen in a moment. It could be a personal failure of some kind, or something completely beyond your control, like an illness or the death of a loved one. Perhaps you’ve been disappointed by an unmet expectation. Things didn’t turn out the way you wanted them to, so you think it’s over. It’s too late for me. But it’s not too late. It’s never too late to have a fresh start when you have Jesus in your life.
Your past is not your destiny. If you refuse to give up hope and you make a fresh start, not only will God restore what you may have lost, He will make your life even better.

Today’s thought: the pain of your past cannot stop God’s great plan for your future.

Jesus has overcome.
“I have told you these things so that in me you may have perfect peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous. Be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy, for I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.

Too often our stress level is tied to our circumstances. We could be stressed because we’re always busy, we’re struggling financially, or we’re not getting along with someone we love. It could be a number of things, but what’s interesting is that these situations are not actually the cause of stress. Stress is really caused by our perspective of our circumstances.
If we focus on our blessings instead of our challenges, then the challenges won’t seem so daunting. Jesus said we would have tribulation, but he also promised us victory. Instead of letting problems make us miserable, we can cheer up.
No matter what is happening right now, we will win in the end.

Today’s thought: when the storms of life rage around you, trust that God is going to carry you through the storm and bring you safely to the other side.
