New Again is born out of the desire to create an opportunity for adults with developmental disorders that is artistic, interesting, fulfilling, and encourages a wide variety of life/work experiences and interactions with the community. New Again consists of a studio, a Gallery, and a Refillery and Zero Waste store. In the studio the team creates products and art for sale in the gallery by recyclin
g and upcycling donated goods. For example wind chimes created from silverware, birdbaths from vases and plates, and fly swatters from paint stirrers and flip-flops. The studio provides a wide variety of hands-on experiences that teach and reinforce skills in: focus, coordination, planning, social skills, organization, and life skills. There are many opportunities to participate in activities that reinforce both physical and occupational therapy goals for each individual. The Refillery and Zero Waste store provide a chance to learn and develop skills in: weights and measures, packaging, money management, cash register skills, social interaction, customer service, display and design , property management, organization, communication, and time management.
