Today's Memorial Day Parade was canceled out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our youth sports participants, but the spirit of the day was not diminished for a single moment.
The Carver Fire Department, Police Department, the Sons of Veterans, and members of the community came together to carry out a Silent Memorial March through Central Cemetery, complete with a color guard, the soulful sound of bagpipes, and a deeply moving rendition of the National Anthem. Our Scouts were honored to be invited to march alongside them and pay their respects to those who gave everything for this country.
And as if the heavens themselves wanted to see it through, the skies held back the rain just long enough for the march and ceremony to be completed.
To every first responder, veteran, Scout, and community member who showed up today, Thank you. Memorial Day is not about a parade. It is about remembrance, gratitude, and honoring the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live freely. Today, Carver did exactly that. 🇺🇸
