Our Girl Scouts recently gathered for our Town Wide Camping event, and it was a weekend to remember. With a wonderful turnout of Scouts and volunteers across multiple levels, the event brought our Girl Scout community together for two days of outdoor adventure, connection, and growth.
Highlights of the weekend included a 3 mile hike through the scenic trails of Miles Standish State Forest, hands-on campfire cooking, and an evening of campfire karaoke that had everyone singing along under the stars. Scouts embraced the spirit of adventure with dancing in the rain, catching bugs, toads, and frogs, learning camp skills and exploring plant identification throughout the forest.
Meals throughout the weekend were planned and prepared by the girls themselves, giving Scouts the opportunity to build practical life skills and take ownership of their experience from start to finish.
One of the most meaningful parts of the weekend was watching Scouts from different levels come together to share skills, mentor one another, and build friendships across our Service Unit. From our youngest Daisies to our older Scouts, everyone found their place in the fun.
True to Girl Scout values, our troops left the area better than they found it. Scouts worked together to clean up trash and clear debris from the site, practicing Leave No Trace principles and ensuring Miles Standish State Forest remained clean and beautiful for the next visitors.
We were so proud of the turnout for this event, and while we were thrilled with the number of Scouts and families who joined us, we also missed those who were unable to attend this year. We look forward to welcoming even more of our Girl Scout community to future events and we cannot wait for next year.
