The world lost a treasured soul today.

Dolly Parton has given the world incredible music, plenty of sparkle, and one very special gift—a love of reading.

Inspired by her father, who never had the opportunity to learn to read and write, Dolly created the Imagination Library to put books into the hands and homes of young children. Since 1995, that dream has grown to reach millions of children and families.

Dolly understood something we believe with all our hearts: a book is never just a book. It’s imagination, family time, confidence, curiosity, and sometimes the beginning of a really big dream.

Thank you, Dolly, for showing us just how much good can come from books, big dreams, and a little bit of sparkle. 💜📖✨

It’s BACK TO SCHOOL time! Carthage Family Literacy Council celebrated by gifting Carthage R9 and St. Ann’s students, entering pre-K to grade 3, a brand new book of their own. A total of 1,639 books were given away to the students. (More will be delivered soon). We thank The Thelma Stanley Foundation and all who support our organization and enable us to put books in the hands of children! Our students are our future, and we hope a love for reading is in their future! 📚💙 Carthage R-9 School District

Carthage Family Literacy Council will be joining us on Wednesday, July 29 from 9:00 am - 5:30 pm to hand out FREE BOOKS to our Happy Bottoms families! We hope to see you there!!

If you're not enrolled in our Happy Bottoms Diaper Program, we provide FREE diapers or pull ups to families with children younger than age 4. We have a short application to complete and need to see proof of child's date of birth.

Summer is in full swing! HOT summer days are the perfect time to CHILL OUT with a good book! If you are taking a road trip, grab some books to read on the way! 🚘 📚
Enjoy some “then and now” pictures of these sweet young readers! They are growing…and we can bet their reading skills are, too! We have heard they are are big fans of the Little Free Libraries!! ❤️❤️
