Access to the Flume Trail is ✅

The $23 million Marlette Lake dam rehabilitation project was completed this month and access to the west side of Spooner Lake backcountry was opened, providing access to trails that had been closed since June 2025 when the project started.

So, this happened yesterday. The unanimous approval allows us the get started with fundraising for design and planning which is essentially the first phase of the future Carson City Bike Park. Each phase is essential to the next and this is our launch pad 🚀

The Carson City Board of Supervisors gave a unanimous thumbs-up to the Memorandum of Understanding for planning, fundraising, design, and development (Phase 1) of the Carson City Bike Park at JohnD. Winters Centennial Park. This is a big step forward for a community-driven project that’s been in the works for years.

Thanks to the Board of Supervisors, the Muscle-powered Board of Directors, and Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space (with Dan Earp filling in for Jen Budge today) for their ongoing support.

Let’s build a bike park!

It’s a journey to get this done, I won’t give up, and I appreciate your support over the years!

Next step in the process: the Memorandum of Understanding between Muscle Powered and Carson City. It’s what lets us start real planning, fundraising, and design work at Centennial.

Parks and Recreation Commission, Tuesday, August 18, 5:30 PM, Community Center, Bob Crowell Board Room. Then to the Board of Supervisors later this fall.

Public comment is open. Bodies in the room matter more than you think.
