Dancing on the Edge as Energy
One of the most common characteristics about being on an edge is a heightened sense of energy. Energy, by itself, is neither positive nor negative. It’s just energy.
However, when energy filters through our interpretation of it, it changes and so too our experience of it. Some people may experience feelings of excitement and enthusiasm for something yet to be realized. While others, in the same situation and circumstance, may feel anxiety and fearful about an unknown future.
What influences interpretation? It’s our living history. A history developed from our experiences, bias, prejudice, and family and cultural norms. It lives in our body as conditioned tendencies, habits and memories, and influences how we see, decide and act in the world.
When on an edge of uncertainty, adversity, or a yet to be realized success, our living history gets activated and we interpret the energy as either threatening or promising.
By being aware of how our history interprets the world and influences our decisions and actions, we increase our self-knowledge and the power to use edge energy with skillful intention—a personal mastery competency.
