Salem County Humane Society Salem County Humane Society is a fully donation-funded, no-kill, volunteer-run animal shelter in Carneys Point, New Jersey. and 4-6 p.m.
(205)

We have been in operation saving dogs and cats since 1975. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and your donations may be tax-deductible. Salem County Humane Society is a no-kill shelter for homeless dogs and cats, located on North Game Creek Road in Carneys Point, New Jersey. As a no-kill shelter, we work diligently to place animals in loving homes. However, dogs and cats who aren’t able to attract a new family remain at the shelter permanently and see all the volunteers as their family. We operate strictly through donations and fundraisers, without relying on any local, state, or federal government funds. Our staff consists of 100% volunteers. We do not perform animal control duties; each township within Salem County has its own animal control officer. All the animals at our shelter receive veterinary care, including spaying and neutering. We never discriminate based on health or age, and we take in the abused, unwanted, and abandoned companion animals that other human beings have forgotten. We hope people will become more aware of the plight of homeless animals and recognize the benefits of adopting an animal in need. We encourage you to open your heart and home to one of these pets who is just waiting for the right person.

🐾New Volunteers Welcome!🐾

Volunteers play a crucial role in keeping the Salem County Humane Society operational, as we do not have any paid personnel. We welcome individuals and families of all backgrounds, including families with children aged 10 and above, retirees, and everyone in between. Our volunteer opportunities include:

• Daily Activities: feeding, medicating, and exercising the animals, cleaning the building to maintain a sanitary environment, and socializing all the dogs and cats. Morning and evening shifts are available.
• Vet Appointments: Volunteers assist by taking dogs and cats to their scheduled veterinary appointments.
• Maintenance: Volunteers perform necessary maintenance tasks for the building and grounds.
• Fostering: Providing temporary foster homes for young animals or those recovering from surgery or illness.
• Community Events and Fundraising: Volunteers participate in organizing and supporting community events and fundraising efforts.

Wednesday has officially found her forever home! 🖤🐈‍⬛

One of our amazing volunteers adopted this sweet girl and decided to keep her shelter name, Wednesday! And look who she gets to share her new home with… Boo, another SCHS alum! (Second picture)🐾

We love seeing our animals find their happily ever afters, especially when they get to join a family that already knows and loves our shelter. Congratulations, Wednesday! We can’t wait to see all the adventures ahead for you and Boo! 🖤

💙🎶 **MAMMA MIA… HERE WE GO AGAIN! 🎶💙

✨ Meet Donna! ✨

At just 2 years old, this beautiful Shepherd mix is ready to find her very own forever family — and trust us, you’re going to say “Thank You for the Music” when you meet her! 🐾💙

Donna may be a little shy when you first meet her, but give her a little time and she’ll show you just how sweet, loving, and affectionate she really is. Once she feels comfortable, Donna is happiest being right by your side. She is dog friendly and kid friendly❤️

Donna is looking for someone who will be patient with her, help her come out of her shell, and show her just how wonderful life can be outside the shelter.

She’s ready to find her “Dancing Queen” moment — running, playing, walking, and then coming home for a cozy night of cuddles on the couch. 🥰

Mamma Mia… here she goes again, waiting for someone to take a chance on her. 💙

This past weekend was our first ever Paws & Pumpkins Fall Festival, and we want to start out by thanking The Ware Group and Salem County Fairgrounds for hosting us and helping make this event possible! ❤️

We truly cannot put into words how grateful we are for everyone who came out to support us. From our amazing vendors and food trucks, to our talented musicians, volunteers, sponsors, trunk-or-treat participants, and everyone who donated, shopped, ate, played, and simply stopped by to show their support — THANK YOU! 🐾

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our Trunk-or-Treat, brought their adorable pets for the Pet Costume Contest, visited the pumpkin patch, enjoyed the b**r garden, listened to some great live music, grabbed some delicious food and coffee, and supported all of our incredible vendors. 🎃👻🐶🎶

And, of course, we want to thank our amazing volunteers who worked behind the scenes before, during, and after the event. So much time and effort goes into putting an event like this together, and we could not have done it without you! ❤️

This festival was created with one goal in mind — to raise money for the dogs and cats of the Salem County Humane Society. Every dollar raised helps us provide food, medical care, shelter, and love to the animals who depend on us.

Our first Paws & Pumpkins was truly something special, and seeing our community come together to support the animals made all of the hard work worth it. 🐾❤️

From all of us at Salem County Humane Society — THANK YOU for making our very first Paws & Pumpkins Fall Festival one to remember! 🎃🐾

We can’t wait to see you all again next year! 🍂🧡

They say moms aren’t supposed to have favorites… but Annabelle might be giving herself away! 👀 Her baby boy, Chip, is clearly her little man, and these two are pretty much inseparable. Mom’s got a favorite, and Chip knows he’s the golden child! 😂

Annabelle and Chip are both incredibly friendly, loving, and SO bonded. They’re looking for a forever home that understands some bonds just can’t be broken (and that Mom might definitely spoil one kid more than the others 😉).

🐾 ADOPT ANNABELLE & CHIP TOGETHER FOR JUST $75!

Give this sweet mama and her favorite boy the happily-ever-after they deserve. Two cats, double the love, and one very obvious mama’s boy! ❤️🐱

💕 Meet Leah! 💕

How can someone be a mama and still look like a kitten herself?! 🥹 This petite little girl came to us with a litter of kittens, and now that ALL of her babies have found their forever homes, it’s finally Leah’s turn! 🏡❤️

Leah is super friendly, has IMMACULATE litter box habits, and LOVES her scratching post. Basically, she’s the total package when it comes to being the perfect house cat! 🐾

Now all she needs is a family to call her own. Could you be the one Leah has been waiting for? 💗

🚨 FIG DESERVES HIS FOREVER HOME! 🚨

Look at that FACE! 🥹 Fig is a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix who is ready to stop waiting and start living his best life! This little guy gets along with other dogs, though he seems to have a soft spot for the ladies. 💕🐶

Fig would do best in a home without small children where he can relax, feel safe, and be the center of someone’s world. He has SO much love to give, and we just know his person is out there.

So… who is going to be the one to give Fig the happily-ever-after he’s been waiting for? 🥺❤️

Come meet Fig and let him steal your heart! 🐾
