We only have a few volunteer spots left for those interested in joining us on Sunday, November 8th for Run the Parkway🏃🏻‍♀️🌳

If you are quick-thinking and organizationally minded, then volunteer as a Parking Attendant and help race participants navigate and find parking on race day! We are proud to partner with the Sacramento Running Association on the annual Run the Parkway event, which is also an Official Training Run of the California International Marathon, with proceeds directly supporting the conservation of the American River Parkway.

October is Squirrel Awareness Month🐿🌰🌳 The best way to celebrate our bushy-tailed friends is by visiting the American River Parkway to see them in action helping to maintain the health and biodiversity of our local ecosystem!

Squirrels play a crucial role on the Parkway. Their digging and burying aerate the soil, helping seed germination, and their scatter hoarding leads to seed dispersal, which is essential for more tree growth. In addition, ground squirrels dig burrows that help provide homes and habitat to other native animals🫶

If you'd like to thank the squirrels for all their hard work, join us at these upcoming Parkway events:

🐿Make a wreath with us on November 17th, November 19th, or December 1st

Did you know that in 2003 the Department of Water Resources estimated over 8 tons of dog waste was entering our local waterways? Today, that number has drastically decreased thanks to our Pups in the Park program and dedicated sponsors like Incredible Pets 🐶🌳🗑️

Our Pups in the Park program aims to reduce the amount of dog waste in the American River by providing mutt mitt stations across the Parkway. Sponsors like Incredible Pets ensure each station is stocked with mutt mitts so that responsible pet owners can dispose of dog waste properly and help keep our waterways clean.
