The LRA’s mission is to protect and preserve the Letort Spring Run and its watershed.

LRA protects and preserves the Letort Spring Run and assures its greenway is a setting for friends or families to cross paths with wildlife and leave feeling enlivened. LRA established and maintains the 3-mile Letort Nature Trail on the run's banks. That popular rail-trail begins at LeTort Park in downtown Carlisle and extends upstream. Citizens have recently extended the trail to the southern boundary of the Letort watershed at Heisers Lane, near Boiling Springs and the Yellow Breeches.

The forest along the Letort is dominated by Hackberry and Black Walnut. Oaks are rare and we are excited to be bringing them back to the riparian zone, especially Chinkapins who will flourish in our rocky limestone soil.
