New funding opportunity invites innovative ideas from first-time applicants and community-led initiatives

The grant round officially opened on April 23, 2026, and applications will be accepted through May 31, 2026.

The Community Voices Grant offers up to $10,000 per project for a one-year period. The initiative is specifically designed to welcome new leaders, grassroots efforts, and first-time applicants, as well as organizations that have not previously received funding from the Partnership for Better Health.

You never know what you’ll encounter in Reentry, but a Bald Eagle?!

Did you know that each state prison in PA has an inmate organization that raises money for local nonprofits?

That means each years tens of thousands of dollars are raised and donated to worthwhile charities by incarcerated citizens in the Keystone State, including organizations that serve victims of crime.

Prison movies lie. Most people behind bars have tremendous remorse for the decisions and actions that led them to prison.

Nobody is as bad as their worst moment.

Lots of excitement regarding the Derek Lee case. And tons of questions.

No, the Court did not yet rule on retroactivity so it does not yet apply to all those convicted of second degree murder. Specifically, in a footnote on the final page of the Opinion, the Court states "As this matter comes to us on direct appeal, and the only question before us is the constitutionality of Appellant's sentence, we decline to address the question of retroactivity."

But it is a positive step, and one we believe will lead to retroactivity (applied to all convicted of Second Degree murder).

And to those who oppose this ruling, believing it will result in prisons being forced to open their doors to dangerous offenders, this is not the case. It merely makes the opportunity for(but no guarantee of) release on parole.

Today, we celebrate those who may be granted justice with this ruling, but simultaneously mourn those who died behind bars cruelly under this draconian law. Including those incarcerated litigators that died of ailment and old age, fighting against the felony murder rule, and whose advocacy contributed to this ruling.
