It’s been a while since Cumberland County Medical Society held a suture workshop. We were contacted by Messiah University to provide physicians willing to teach students the art of suturing. These would be students in the Pre-Health professions club - nursing, premed, Physical therapy and PA students.

The suture workshop will be held THURSDAY, APRIL 23rd at 7pm until approximately 9pm at Messiah University in Mechanicsburg. All supplies will be provided. They will not be using pig feet for this workshop.

If you are available and willing to volunteer, please let me know by Monday, April 13th.
Thank you!

The CCMS picnic was held on July 13 at Adams-Ricci park. We had a first reading of proposed Bylaws revisions and heard a report from the students that we sponsored to attend the International HOSA meeting in Houston, TX in June. Below, Beth Kempf of Community CARES tells us about how the medical room we provide at the Resource Center is being used and why she needs our support for a similar room in the new permanent shelter.

Take advantage of the FREE CME opportunity provided by the PA Department of Health and Quality Insights.

PA Department of Health and Quality Insights is offering a free educational initiative, Evidence-Based Prescribing: Tools you can use to fight the opioid epidemic. We currently offer ten one-hour educational modules focused on the opioid crisis in Pennsylvania. The topics include Maternal Health, Care Teams, Opioid Prescribing Guidelines, and more! Additional information can be found on the Quality Insights website.

Each one-hour session is eligible for one CME. In addition, these presentations can be applied to the DEA’s new 8-hour safe prescribing education requirement. Continuing Education is also available for some non-prescribing members of the care team.

Please feel free to register for any of our pre-scheduled sessions, or contact Jason Sutt at if you have any questions.
