This Friday is the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. In honor of those we've lost, all fundraising during Spotlight Players' Come From Away will be dedicated to two organizations, one located in New York, and another in Canton. The show does not have an intermission, so please visit our raffle table before the show to participate. Learn more about these wonderful organizations below!

Pay It Forward 9/11: Pay It Forward 9/11 is an organization in New York founded by Kevin Tuerff (“Kevin T.” from the Come From Away story). Their vision is to help develop communities where harmony grows through individual "pay it forward" actions, and the ripple effect they cause. They wish to promote random acts of kindness and compassion every September 11th to honor lives lost in the 9/11 attacks by performing three good deeds for strangers, asking them to pay it forward by doing the same and creating a ripple effect. Donations help honor lives lost in the 9/11 tragedy by distributing hundreds of kindness classroom lessons and activities to 500 classrooms across America in 2026, developed by professional curriculum developers.

Meredith Whalen Memorial Scholarship (Canton Community Foundation under Local Impact Alliance): Meredith Whalen grew up in Canton Township and graduated from Salem High School in 1996, where she distinguished herself as an outstanding student, athlete, and leader. She went on to graduate with high honors from the University of Michigan Business School in 2000. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Meredith moved to New York City where she was living her dream and working as a Research Associate for Fred Alger Management on the 93rd floor of the World Trade Center's Tower One. She loved travel, Broadway, museums, and the excitement of life in New York City.
Today, Meredith's legacy lives on through an annual memorial scholarship awarded to a graduating female senior from the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools who plans to pursue a degree in business —following the path Meredith so passionately pursued. Through this scholarship, her love of learning, determination, and generous spirit continue to inspire future generations.
The Meredith Whalen Memorial Scholarship is a fund of the Canton Community Foundation. For more information, visit LocalImpactAlliance.org or call 734-495-1200.
