Between the current wildfires, extreme fire danger, and current air quality, please be mindful when planning your outdoor recreational activities!

🚫🔥 Statewide Burn Ban in Effect 🔥🚫

Governor Bob Ferguson has declared a State of Emergency due to critically dry conditions and extreme wildfire danger across Washington.

A temporary outdoor burn ban is now in effect in all 39 counties through noon on September 30, 2026, unless conditions require it to be ended early or extended.

The ban includes:
» Campfires and bonfires
» Yard debris and trash burning
» Land-clearing and weed-abatement fires
» Most agricultural burning

Local governments, fire districts and property owners may impose stricter rules.

Always check the restrictions for your specific location before lighting any fire.

Please help prevent human-caused wildfires. If you see an uncontrolled fire, move to safety and call 911.

Silver Star Search and Rescue recently responded to two missions.

On July 15th, 2026, SSSAR assisted SCSOSAR with a recovery. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and loved ones.

On Aug. 1, 2026, Ten SSSAR Members responded to assist with an injured hiker on Dog Mountain. The subject was able to walk out with EMS before we arrived.

When the calls come, our dedicated members are ready to respond!

Six Southwest Washington SAR teams trained together in a simulated aircraft crash requiring day and nighttime rescue operations.

Silver Star Search and Rescue was one of several surrounding teams to participate in a joint training exercise to enhance emergency response readiness.

Over the past weekend, over 100 volunteers from Silver Star Search and Rescue, Clark County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue, Cowlitz County Search and Rescue, Skamania County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue and Volcano Rescue Team participated in this training event.

Scenerio: airplane ✈️ crash requiring a coordinated search, rescue, medical care, and victim transport.

With temps upward of 100°, SAR personal hit the field with ground search teams, drone teams, K9, an Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT), medical team, and E-moto teams. Back at base, command, ops, logistics, planning, communications and admin worked side-by-side in Incident Command Systems (ICS).

Training exercises like this help strengthen our partnerships with surrounding teams and build our skills to enhance our response abilities in real life emergencies.
