DMF is a charitable foundation that is run by me, Brian Flaherty, and my brothers in honor of our mother mother, Denise M. Our flagship event is an annual golf outing in New Jersy, which started out in 2003 with 25 people. Now the Foundation has gone national, with events in three states and plans to add one more in 2015. What makes our events special is they are a celebration of all our loved on
es who are in the battle with or whom we have been lost to cancer. We put a face to the disease and we call it out. You can feel the passion and the positive energy at all of our events. We gather throughout the year to celebrate the courage of those touched by cancer, and raise money in their honor! Part of the money goes to research and treatment facilities that specialize in cancer. One of those is Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in honor of Denise. MSKCC provided loving, supportive care to her and her family for 9 years. In addition, they provided financial support to her husband and five sons after she passed. MSKCC has been receiving these donations since 2003. We are actively choosing sites in other states for donations in the future. Another part of the money goes directly to families fighting the disease. That is why in addition to supporting MSKCC we also select local, worthy families, one like my own some 20 years ago, who are struggling with the financial burden of fighting this disease. Our foundation has been growing rapidly and added its first staff member in 2014. Although we are grateful for the growth, we work towards the day that we might no longer exist: the day when cancer is eradicated. Grassroots foundations like ours are only possible without the gracious and continued support of countless volunteers, sponsors, donors, and participants. At DMF, we are run from the heart. We put our participants and our sponsors at the forefront and we reward them with our eternal gratitude and a lot of advertising! Local folks in each city coordinate our events, we are supported by local businesses, and we select local families in the fight. With our new media exposure, your generosity will be more widely known, not only to the family you help support but also to your surrounding community and peers. They will know you stand against cancer and support those in the fight. From the sons of Denise, and behalf of all those who benefit from your generosity, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your visiting our page, and for your past and future support. I promise to never take it for granted and to work harder every year to make the most of your support
for those in need. Brian A. Flaherty - Founder, Denise M. Flaherty Mem. Foundation
