Burlington Special Education Parent Advisory Council

Burlington Special Education Parent Advisory Council Burlington SEPAC sponsors workshops presented by experts in many fields related to special education.

State and Federal laws give us the right to participate with school officials regarding the education and safety of students with disabilities. The Burlington School Department supports our efforts to help our children. We offer information on a wide range of children's learning issues and also provide a network for parents to share experiences of dealing with similar issues. PAC sponsors seminars

and workshops presented by experts in many fields related to special education, learning disabilities and other areas of interest. If your child has a diagnosed disability, has a 504 Plan or is on an IEP, PAC can help you.

2026-27 Nomination Statements

Hillary Kleck for Secretary

I am excited to run for Secretary of the Burlington SEPAC. As the parent of a child with disabilities for more than 20 years, I have extensive experience navigating both public and private school settings and working collaboratively with educators, specialists, and families to advocate for appropriate supports and services. Through these experiences, I have developed strong organizational and communication skills, along with a deep appreciation for the importance of family support and community connection. I would be honored to contribute my experience and perspective to help support Burlington families and the continued work of SEPAC.

Laura Borisow for Co-President/Treasurer

I am seeking re-election as SEPAC Co-President and Treasurer. During this transition year, I helped support board operations, parent engagement, and family resources. I look forward to continuing to expand parent education, information-sharing opportunities, and advocacy efforts to help Burlington families navigate special education and understand their rights.

Julie Kroner for Co-President/President

I would value the opportunity to continue our work with the Burlington SEPAC board in the role of co-president/president. As a dedicated special educator and an active community member, I have always been passionate about the educational experience of our students in Burlington. Relying on both my professional background and personal experiences, I will continue to advocate for all students and families in Burlington. Thank you for considering my candidacy. I am excited to continue to serve SEPAC as we work together towards a collaborative future for our children. I look forward to contributing my skills and passion to our shared success. Thank you for your time and consideration.

CAMP SKYWILD IN NH:
NEW CAMP OPPORTUNITY FOR NEURODIVERGENT KIDS
(Details pasted below)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My name is Kristin McMaster, and I am the co-director and founder of Camp SkyWild. I'm reaching out to spread the word that we're bringing Camp SkyWild to New Hampshire for the first time this summer. It's a week-long overnight camp for neurodivergent kids ages 7-15: kids with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and related support needs who deserve the same formative camp experiences as their neurotypical peers. Our program has run primarily in Michigan since 2013, but this summer we are piloting an expansion to the northeast, and I'm hopeful to begin spreading the word to local school districts and youth development
agencies.
We run low staff ratios, structured and predictable schedules,
activities driven by camper choice, and hold intensive staff training
for all of our volunteers to support campers so that they can show up exactly as they are. Campers can shoot archery and slingshots, go canoeing, kayaking and swimming, make a tie-dye shirt, climb a rock wall, make a smore, ... the full traditional camp experience, just
more flexible and more supported.
NH Session: August 17-22 | Ages 7-15 | $2,500 (scholarships available)
Location: Camps Kenwood & Evergreen, 114 Eagle Pond Rd, Wilmot, NH 03287
Does anyone have knowledge/experience with Amblyopia (lazy Eye). What testing of visual/assistive technology can be done in school, and what type of accommodations are available? School-specific experiences. Thanks
It’s February! ❄️
We’ve had a lot of snow lately. Maybe you’re spending more time indoors with your kids… maybe outdoors… maybe a little of both.
Report cards and progress reports have come home. But did you know there is additional progress monitoring data that supports those reports?
Assessments like DIBELS and i-Ready have been completed. While this data is not automatically sent home, families can request it. If you’re interested in your child’s scores or growth data, you can reach out directly to your child’s teacher and ask for that information.
Behind the scenes, we are working on upcoming events and hope to share more soon. In the meantime, we’d love to hear from you.
Would you be interested in a casual SEPAC meetup?
• A “walk & talk” at the mall (perhaps in the morning before stores open)
• A virtual Zoom meet-up
• An informal space to chat, ask questions, share wins, share challenges, and learn from one another
Parenting is hard. Parenting a child with special needs can feel even harder. You are not alone.
Let us know what you think.
-What topics would you like to learn more about?
-What questions do you have?
-What information would be helpful for other families?
-We encourage you to share so we can continue building a supportive, informed community together.
