About BHSAA
Over 25 years ago, several community members and BHS coaches, teachers, and volunteers formed the BHS Athletic Association as a means of providing extra revenue to help with funding shortages of the various athletic programs within BHS. They also viewed the Association as a vehicle of fellowship, support, and communication between members of the Burlington community and the BHS coaching staff.
Every year, the BHS Athletic Association continues to strive to achieve these goals with the modern complexities of high school athletic funding. I believe the Association's funding responsibilities have become much greater, but with adversity comes opportunity.
Through the annual BHS Golf Outing (Gene Edmundson Golf Outing) and other annual fundraising initiatives, we raise approximately $50,000 per year. At least $25,000 of this is for short term immediate player needs. The end-of-year balance is set aside for long term strategies, particularly for staffing, equipping, and modernizing the expansions of exercise facilities, training spaces, etc.
We are very fortunate to have such a vast array of successful BHS Teams and Athletes! Many of these athletes go on to become great contributors to our community. But the success doesn't come easily. It takes great parents, great coaches, great volunteers and great support from the community. Let's all work together this year to make our community greater by increasing our support for high school athletics!
