🌟 Celebrating Our Exceptional Key Club Scholarship Recipients! 🌟

The Kiwanis Club of Burgaw is excited to announce the recipients of our $1,000 scholarships for this year, awarded to two outstanding graduates from Heide Trask High School!

🎓 Sophie Williamson has been a dedicated Key Club member since her freshman year, serving as secretary from 2023 to 2026. One of her most cherished service projects involved delivering letters from Cape Fear Elementary K-Kids to residents at Northchase Rehabilitation Center, creating a “Dear Grandparent” pen-pal program. As the valedictorian of her class, Sophie is set to attend UNC Chapel Hill to study exercise science, aspiring to become an Occupational Therapist.

🌟 Elber Lopez Paz has also shown tremendous dedication as a Key Club member at Heide Trask since his freshman year. With a passion for supporting under-resourced students, Elber co-founded Heide Trask College Connect & Student Services, helping to connect students with universities and raise awareness about available scholarships. He plans to pursue a degree in private equity at the University of Chicago.

🌟Celebrating Our Key Club Scholarship Recipients🌟

The Kiwanis Club of Burgaw is excited to announce the recipients of our $1,000 scholarships for this year, awarded to two outstanding graduates from Heide Trask High School!

Cape Fear Elementary! 🎉 We were thrilled to have them present their inspiring 2025-2026 passion project at our recent Kiwanis Club of Burgaw meeting. They identified a need for more and newer play equipment at their school and took action by raising funds to make it happen! 🏈🏀⚽️🏐🎾 Your dedication to enhancing the playground experience for all students is inspiring! A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Hill and Mrs. Coleman for your unwavering support and guidance to these future leaders! Keep shining, K-KIDS! 🌈💪

We are honored to support the Free Book Fair at Cape Fear Middle School, helping place a FREE book into the hands of every student. Reading opens doors, sparks imagination, and builds confidence — and we believe every child deserves access to books they can call their own.

Thank you to Cape Fear Middle School for partnering with us to make this opportunity possible. Together, we are investing in the future of our students and strengthening our community one child at a time.
