Thank you, Pack 247 families!
Last Thursday’s meetup at Hankins Park was exactly what our Scouts needed.
They played hard, enjoyed the sunshine, and had a great time together. We also completed our Derby Car Weigh‑In, and the excitement is officially building for race day.
Thank you to everyone who brought cars, helped weigh, and kept things running smoothly.
Our Pack 247 family always shows up strong.

Autism Awareness Day!!! The support is amazing!!!

World Autism Awareness Day: Every Life Has Value

Today, April 2nd, the Pender County Fire Marshal’s Office joins the global community in recognizing World Autism Awareness Day. This year’s theme is "Autism and Humanity – Every Life Has Value," a powerful reminder that our community is strongest when everyone feels seen, safe, and included.
As first responders, we know that emergency situations can be especially overwhelming for individuals on the autism spectrum due to loud sirens, bright lights, and sensory overload. We are committed to continuous training to better serve and protect our neurodivergent neighbors.

How can you help your family stay fire-safe?

🏠 Practice Your Plan: Create a home escape plan and practice it often. Sensory-friendly "social stories" can help children understand what to expect during a drill.

🚒 Visit Us: Bringing your loved one to a local fire station can help them become familiar with our gear and faces before an emergency happens.

Let’s move beyond awareness toward true acceptance and support. Together, we can make Pender County a safer place for everyone. 💙🧩

🇺🇸 A Day of Honor at Moores Creek National Battlefield

Our hearts are full. We are deeply grateful to Moores Creek National Battlefield for welcoming us and giving our Scouts the opportunity to perform such a meaningful flag retirement ceremony. Standing on those historic grounds made the moment even more powerful.

We could not be more proud of our pack, our troop, and our community. Pack 247 and Burgaw Troop 242 carried out the ceremony with respect, dignity, and true Scout spirit. Watching our youth honor the flag with such care reminds us why these traditions matter — they teach service, gratitude, and pride in something bigger than ourselves.

Thank you to every Scout, leader, and family who helped make this ceremony so special. Moments like these show the strength of our community and the heart of Scouting.

🇺🇸🔥 FLAG RETIREMENT AT MOORES CREEK 250! 🔥🇺🇸
As part of the Moores Creek Battlefield 250th Anniversary events, Cubs Scout Pack 247 and Burgaw Troop 242will be leading a respectful and meaningful Flag Retirement Ceremony — and our community is invited to join.

A flag retirement ceremony is a time‑honored tradition where worn or damaged American flags are respectfully retired, usually by burning, in a dignified and honorable way. It’s a powerful moment of reflection, gratitude, and respect for the symbol of our nation.

If you have an American flag that is faded, torn, or ready to be retired, we would be proud to include it in the ceremony.

👉 If you’d like your flag retired, please let us know
We’ll ensure it is handled with the dignity it deserves.

Join us as we honor history, teach our youth the importance of service, and bring our community together for this special 250th anniversary event.

🚨IMPORTANT BBQ UPDATE 🚨
Because of the extreme cold, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone our BBQ pick‑up date.*Date to be announced* As much as we were excited to serve you, we simply can’t risk the quality of the BBQ or give you anything less than what you deserve.

We know many of you were counting on this for your weekend plans — especially for the Super Bowl — and we are truly sorry for any disruption this may cause. If this change affects your game‑day plans in any way, please reach out to us. We want to do everything we can to make it right for your family.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and the incredible support you always show our Scouts. Our community means everything to us, and we’re grateful for each of you.
