Down By The Border Summer Internship Opportunity
Down By The Border is seeking motivated incoming high school seniors (Class of 2027) and college students to serve as summer interns at our new Satellite Office.
Schedule:�Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday�10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Requirements:
● Computer literate and comfortable using technology
● Familiar with social media platforms
● Strong communication and organizational skills
● Passion for serving individuals with special needs and their families
Intern Responsibilities:
● Create and manage social media posts
● Answer and return phone calls
● Respond to emails
● Assist parents of children with special needs in completing police decal applications and other forms
● Help organize sports leagues, registrations, and participant lists
● Provide general office and administrative support
● Assist with community outreach and special events
This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience while making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with special needs and their families.
Community service hours will be awarded and may be applied toward your high school graduation requirements or college service-learning requirements, where applicable.

We are excited to share that the South Padre Island Birding, Nature Center & Alligator Sanctuary has invited Down By The Border families to enjoy a guided tour of their facilities and nature boardwalk.
We will be offering two opportunities to participate:
• June 30, 2026 — 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM�• July 7, 2026 — 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Each session is limited to 15 children with special needs and one parent or guardian. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and only the first 15 families registered for each session will be able to participate.
Please carefully consider the date, time, and travel requirements to South Padre Island before registering. If you feel you may be unable to attend or transportation could be a challenge, we kindly ask that you leave the opportunity available for families who can commit to attending.

What a beautiful and inclusive day we shared this past Monday as we closed another memorable baseball season. We want to thank our incredible partners at West Brownsville Little League, the City of Brownsville Parks & Recreation Department, BCIC, Mr. Gaspar Hernandez (Golden Corral), Ruddy Juarez (RGV Elite), Mrs. Carla Mancha, Brownsville Police Department-Mental Health Task Force Unit, John Cuvillier (PMP ) and most importantly, our amazing children, families and Ambassadors for making this such a special and historic year.
This season was about much more than baseball. It was about belonging, friendship, opportunity, and showing our community that every child deserves a place to play, grow, and be celebrated. As it has been for so many years, the fight for inclusion, acceptance, and awareness remains just as important as promoting wellness, accessibility, and participation for all.
Together, we continue to build a community where every child is seen, valued, and given the chance to shine. Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping make this one of our most meaningful and historic seasons yet. ❤️💙🩵💚💛🧡💜⚾

Friendly Reminder of our last Baseball practice will be on Monday 6:30 pm at West Brownsville Little League. Just to be clear it won’t be Sunday but Monday. Come join our Ambassadors for a great last practice, you don’t want to miss it.
