Andi Davis was hiking on a mountain near her Arizona home when she came across a heartbreaking sight at the top of the hill. Lying in dirt in front of her was a wounded Pit Bull. The dog was extremely thin and barely moving. At first, she didn't realized just how badly he had been injured - she would later learn he had been shot. But at that very moment, she just knew he needed help.
What happened next was an incredible act of compassion. Andi lifted the 47-pound dog into her arms and carried him down the steep mountain by herself.
It was a grueling hour-long trek down, but she refused to leave him behind. Her husband and daughter met her at the bottom, and together they rushed the dog to the Arizona Humane Society for emergency care.
The Pit Bull's rescuers named him Elijah, and under the experienced care of AHS, Elijah began to heal.
Although the Davis family already had three dogs of their own, they couldn't forget the dog they had carried down that mountain and saved. So they adopted him!
Elijah completely changed their perspective on Pit Bulls. And he quickly formed a special bond with young Jessi, who can't stop telling everyone how amazing her new dog is. ❤️
One act of kindness gave Elijah a chance to survive—and ultimately gave him the loving family he had been waiting for. 🐾
