“Baby Bump and Bloom” That was the name of the event we orchestrated last Saturday evening in celebration in motherhood. This aided us helping accomplish our mission of providing mothers with connection and care, which our participants enjoyed in an evening of relaxation, meaningful conversation and community support.🤱💞🫂

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the truth is, most of us are carrying something we do not always talk about. Stress, burnout, grief, anxiety, the pressure to keep showing up even when it feels heavy. You are not alone in that.

At The Christopher Rose Community Empowerment Campaign CRCEC, we believe mental health deserves space in everyday conversation. It shows up in how we care for our families, how we move through challenges, and how we support one another. Healing does not always look like a big moment. Sometimes it looks like being heard, feeling supported, or learning new ways to cope and move forward.

This month, we encourage you to check in with yourself and with the people around you. Start the conversation. Offer grace. Accept support when you need it. Small moments of connection can make a real difference.

If you are looking for support, resources, or a community that understands, we are here. Visit our website to learn more about how we are building spaces where mental health is acknowledged, supported, and prioritized.

These photos highlight our end-of-year Respite Day Series. A space created to give moms a well-deserved day off while their children are pampered and entertained by MCH.

This event was our Winter Festival at the Major Owens Center on Saturday, December 6, 2025, and we were excited to host eight amazing children!

They enjoyed so many attractions, the bouncy house, carousel, face painting, raffles, and fun activities with our wonderful vendors. Each child also received a bag of groceries to bring home to their mom, and light refreshments were served throughout the day.

After the festival, we headed back to the office where each child received a Happy Meal box from McDonald’s to take home, all eight Happy Meals were generously sponsored by PATH.

A beautiful day of joy, support, and community. 💙❄️

This year has been marked by meaningful engagement, powerful moments of community connection, and essential support for families across Brooklyn and beyond.

Throughout the year, our team continued to deliver maternal and child health support through our H.O.P.E. and MIH programs, providing parents and caregivers with guidance, culturally grounded breastfeeding education, and assistance navigating prenatal and postpartum care.

Our Women’s Empowerment and Wellness Education sessions flourished, offering workshops on emotional well-being, financial empowerment, healthy eating, self-care, and parenting. These gatherings created moments of connection and gave many the renewed strength and belonging they needed.

CRCEC also remained active in community advocacy through our C.A.M.E.R.A. wellness initiatives and violence-prevention efforts with the P.A.T.H. program in partnership with the 67th Precinct Clergy Council (The God Squad) and the Mayor's Office for Prevention of Hate Crimes.

This year also brought powerful progress through our Family and Youth Peer Support (FYPS) programming — offering youth guidance, family advocacy, and culturally grounded emotional support that empowers resilience, communication, and healing.

Your generosity helps expand maternal and child health services, strengthen empowerment programs, enhance community advocacy, and sustain our food and health outreach efforts.

Thank you for believing in our mission and standing with Brooklyn families.

With heartfelt appreciation,
Sharon Coombs-Rose
Executive Director, CRCEC
